One of our vehicles is 10+ years old and the foggy/yellowish headlights have finally gotten to a point they bother me.

Any fairly easy and long lasting solutions for this? I'd ask Google, but there are 1,000,000,000,000 options out there all claiming to be the best.

I’ve used the 3M 4-5 times with good results but they go back to yellow in weeks to months.
The best solution is a cheap $150 Amazon or rock auto assembly replacement if available for your ride. I think I spent even less than that for my Ram and it made it look 5 years newer.
Update: I only spent $80 for a set of aftermarket, OEM-style assemblies. 4 years later and they still look new.

Cant remember exactly which one I got, maybe McGuire's. Just get the one that comes with the sandpaper and the drill attachment to buff the compound. A regular wipe just wont work, you'll need to sand a couple times and get that good polish to really brighten them up. With that kit, I was able to do 4+ sets of headlights.

Cerakote

I've had good luck with this kit. Inexpensive and easy to use.

any of the ones that use the drill attachment to polish them are great but you ABSOLUTLY HAVE TO seal them after. It's going to look great without sealer but you have to seal them. Put multiple coats of sealer on it or the scratches and pores that are opened up by polishing will dull and yellow again super fast.

This works if they are really bad. If you don't want to do this, compound, polish, then wax. I use my buffer and it takes a bit but it works. Some process as paint. None of the other stuff really works. It is the sun oxidizing the plastic.

I did this on my truck two years ago. Still clear today. DA sand down with 1500-2000 grit paper and spray.

I replaced the entire lamp assemblies for my rear and front lights on a 2001 tundra for under $200.

I would do it again on a Honda or Toyota but other manufacturers like to design their vehicles so you have to remove the bumper and/or paneling to change them out. frick Nissan in particular.

No real need for a kit. Wetsand, polish, and seal with a Ceramic Sealer.

for $17 it's not bad. It's not a permanent fix, but somewhat long term. Problem I have is that my headlights already have cracks along the edges.

I know it's not what you asked but consider replacing the lights. Shop around online. Some places are reasonable. Not a difficult task to install. Youtube can help.

Maguire’s compound
Impact drill
Tire polish brush

Put compound on headlights
Put polish brush in your drill
Polish headlight with compound on it.

May do it one day. Still trying to decide on when we’ll trade in this car.
