I’m 59 and have been working out pretty good for a while now.
But lately I’ve been having a lot of soreness in my arms and shoulders. So much so it’s affecting my workouts.
Any suggestions to help with soreness?
TIA

Likely need more details because it depends on the type of soreness, e.g. Muscles vs connective tissue

In general, drink more water, increase electrolytes, eat more protein.

There are a bunch of ways to help with DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). What I found to be most effective is proper post workout nutrition. Especially a good portion of BCAA's (mainly Leucine). Leucine has been scientifically proven to decrease muscle soreness. Another method I like to do is very light work of those same muscle groups the very next day. You don't have to put in the same intensity, just good non-weight or band work getting your muscles through a good ROM.

Stretching. Too many people skip that, but even 5-10 minutes daily makes a world of difference. And low impact movements if you are having leg soreness. The day after I do legs, I'll do a bike ride. First 5 minutes suck, but after that it usually loosens up and I'm fine.

What's worked for me is using a massage gun after workouts.

Just finished using mine. I use it every night until the battery runs out.

The past few weeks I have started using it on my thighs and hams during lunch and before working out and it has made a difference.

I've had a massage gun for over two years now and don't know how I survived before then.

I've been looking at getting one. Got any suggestions? Theragun or something different?

Take a week off, let your body heal. You’ll be stronger after.
