If Kelly keeps locking down the state he’ll win a championship.

One of the best benefits to recruiting in state is those players are much less likely to leave in the portal.

Kelly doing it the right way

And if you need to go out of state, majority of the best recruits are in your surrounding states.

That also explains the passion for LSU football.

The more homegrown you are, the more authentic your passion.

I thought the same thing. California has a pretty big talent pool. Probably explains why they haven't been relevant for a while now. Was a bit surprised at Ohio St. as they've always been one of those states with a large amount of in state talent.

USC doesn't carry the cache it did for football back in their hey day. [when Pete Carroll was coaching there]. Too many other programs in the State despite no Championships from Stanford, UCLA, CAL, Fresno State, San Diego State, etc.

But how many 4&5 stars come out of CA every year? Maybe they could do a little better but there's no way they could even approach 50%.

Ditto and the Louisianimals more than not outplay similarly rated players from everywhere else in the country. Imho a High 3* from Louisiana is better than most 4*s anywhere.

Louisiana young men love LSU and they won't run back to North Dakota when they get home sick, which I do understand, though. I think per capita Louisiana is in the top 5 in producing NFL talent. And east Texas has always been good to us. LSU, UGA & Ohio State should always recruit well in their home states.

You would think our baseball numbers would look similar but we’re only at 25%.

OSU has enough talent in state to win 9 games a year. Not enough total talent to compete at the top. I would say in most years this % is pretty close to normal. 30-45% and at most 12 or so guys from in state

You have to lock down the state while also plucking some very key pieces elsewhere. Whether that be the portal or out of state.
