Everyone loses when LSU doesn't make it to Omaha.

Best fan base in the country

Was wondering if that would be the case while watching that huge game 7.
Figures. No bigger brand in college baseball

LSU baseball has a large blue blood following. ESPN had to be hoping LSU would reach Omaha.

I'm not surprised that the UNC/LSU and A&M/UT games are 1 & 2. I am surprised that the LSU/Wofford game got that many viewers. That is really impressive.

Also exhibits how regional college baseball is. Those are pre-Caitlin Clark WNBA numbers.

To me, the more remarkable number is the viewership for the Wofford game when compared to Texas v. A&M.
Only 12k less people watched that game despite the fact:
1. Texas and Texas A&M are huge schools, with huge alumni bases, located in a state with nearly 6x the population of Louisiana
2. That game started at 8:00 pm (CDT) on a Saturday compared to LSU v. Wofford which was at 11:00 am (CDT) on a Friday
Given the relatively small alumni base of Wofford, coupled with almost assuredly a very small brand recognition outside the state of South Carolina, you have to imagine somewhere in the range of 75%, 80%, maybe even 90% of the 678k who tuned in were LSU fans. That means almost as many LSU fans tuned in to watch a mid-day, weekday, game than Texas/Texas A&M fans COMBINED tuned in to watch a weekend prime time game.
If there was ever any doubt before, I think you can firmly say NO fanbase has greater interest in college baseball than LSU. And the numbers may not even be that close.
EDT: I would sell hell out of that on the recruiting trail by framing it as only Major League Baseball teams have greater fan interest than LSU baseball.

This should be front and center for every college recruit we are after. You will get more eyes on you at LSU.

Probably the reason all our games were on ESPN instead of +.
I suspected that when I saw the schedule.

quote:FTR AM/UT was #3. The two most watched games were LSU/UNC. Considering we played them 3 times I’m guessing the 3rd game was streaming only (game 6)? That’s the only reason I can think of that LSU/UNC weren’t #1,2 and 3 most watched games.
I'm not surprised that the UNC/LSU and A&M/UT games are 1 & 2.

The 2 LSU/UNC games are 1 and 2. UT/ATM is 3rd. You may have done like I did at first and didn’t see the other LSU/UNC game total under the first. It’s kind of jumbled up in a weird font. I am very surprised LSU/Wofford was that close to the TX rivals game though. Good stuff!

Been saying for years this is why LSU should always be on ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU or SEC Network in the regionals and super regionals. They should never solely be on ESPN+. If they are, then the people programming this thing aren't paying attention.

Or they are trying to force more people to purchase ESPN+ by creating great demand. Similar to what Amazon and Netflix are doing with the NFL.

Wow, great numbers for our games

Yeah I was lumping the two LSU/UNC games together into one, I should've worded it better, but point remains, the LSU/Wofford game being that close to the A&M/UT game is the most impressive thing on there. And as someone above said, that graphic should be sent to every possible recruit we have. They could toss in the numbers from a minor league stream to the recruits considering the draft if they wanted to.

Kind of surprised LSU’s game6 isn’t up there… was that game on ESPNU, I can’t remember?
Posted on 6/5/24 at 1:09 pm to JPLSU1981
Yes, it was on ESPNU. Likely the reason it isn't in the top 5.

I think throughout espn/abc platform, more college games should be shown. Game of the week type. Wish college baseballs popularity was high enough. I know it’s better than the 80s early 90s.

LSU vs UNC should have been a Super Regional
Just dug ourselves in too deep a hole in April preventing us from hosting a regional.
