Jones and Herring have produced. Guidry has a role. Couple key pitching injuries obviously. A lot of busts.
Definitely not the No 1 class in hindsight. Bad evals or bad development?

Bad evals
If scouting baseball players were easy, far more than 50% of first round picks would make the big leagues.

Kling and Neal so far haven’t lived up to the hype. It happens man.

This isn’t the answer that you are looking for, but that is baseball man.
Jumping from high school when you are simply the best on you team. You may be in a weak district to the SEC isn't easy. Some cut it. Some don’t.

Shores was pumping 99 before he got hurt and was likely going to be our 3rd starter
Jones just finished top 10 in the country in home runs
Guidry and Herring were both major contributors to a national championship
Moffet, Frey and Neal all have huge potential
And he brought in Tommy Tanks and Paul Skenes in that transfer class as well.
What was that again about bad evaluations?

Not every baseball player pans out to be as good as they were projected… baseball is nothing like other sports but one similarity is that you can go look at top 10 recruits from any 2005+ football player and plenty of those guys never even become good d1 guys.
High school to SEC baseball is a huge jump. Id say bigger than SEC to any Minor league baseball level.
Jones - great high school player, his jump from 2023 to 2024 was Huge
Big amount of Development.
Shores - Will be an all star next year / will be a major leaguer one day if he goes in the draft (been hurt most of college career unfortunately)
Neal - shows signs of a great player is young for his class and immediately started as a 17 year old freshman at the most prestigious baseball college. (On a team that won a natty)
Noot - great arm been hurt entire college career.
Moffitt - great arm was really making strides this year but because of the early season struggles didn’t have the chance to throw him in as often because every game became most win.
I can keep going down the list. The program has plenty of talent and plenty of guys are being developed. You will come across big name recruits who don’t ever figure it out or take longer to be developed it happens.
You shouldn’t expect a national championship every year. Baseball is harder to win a national championship than any other major sport because it takes a bit of luck as well.
You can however expect the post season every year and Jay Johnson has been great at that. And he works harder than any other coach I’ve ever seen when it comes to recruiting and putting his time into his job.

Or is this just a case of a clueless idiot rushing to judgement and trying find something LSU related to crap on?

Every class has some. But you need to give the class another year. If you know every recruit that would be a bust, you wouldn’t have to pad the roster with extra guys. This class has a some dudes and some other that have been injured. In other words, it’s too early to judge. This class makes up over 25% of the travel roster of a team that was inches from hosting a superior regional. and that doesn’t count noot and shores who could be the best of the bunch.

I mean the prime crop of this class was
Kling
Shores
Neal
Noot
Jones
Jones is a beast
Shores was a beast before his injury.
Noot get an incomplete because he really has been injured for 2 years.
so we are back to where we started with all of these conversation: Neal and Kling aren’t living up to hype so this class sucks.
NVM Herring who wasn’t as highly touted just had a sub 2 era.
the idea that this class is some kind of bust because we only have 2 sophemores make an all conference team is a bit much

Put another one in the rantard column.
The hate JJ gets while actually winning something is incredible compared to a clown like Matt McLoser

Shores was a monster last year before the injury. Noot hasn't pitched yet due to his injury. Neal has been decent and could take the next step. Jones has been great. Herring has been the best reliever on the team the last two years. Guidry closed out the national championship. Looks like a pretty good class to me. The injuries to Shores and Noot were huge though. Both had/have big time starter potential.

Recruiting has definitely dropped a notched with the new Wild West transfer portal. The portal has been a big part of LSU’s success. If Jay doesn’t hit the portal really hard, chances are LSU will not be competitive next year. Major holes to fill with pitching especially if Herring leaves. Holes to fill at 3B, SS, DH possibly 1B. It’s weird that they use to reload with recruiting. Now we seem to be really dependent on the portal for success.
