How many times have you moved your daughter? Today will be my 5th time helping my daughter move, hopefully it will be my last.
Moves: into dorm at Auburn, into 1st apartment in Auburn, into 2nd apartment at Auburn, into 1st apartment in Atlanta, and now into 2nd apartment in Atlanta.

Seems typical for any daughter ages 18-25. Actually surprised there isn’t another move or two in there…like a “back home then 1st apartment”
BTW - it won’t be your last ;)

Couple times a week she falls asleep on me and I move her to her bed. Hopefully have a few thousand more of those.

Better you than some sketchy moving company or some friend who wants a back rub after

I think it’s about 5 for me, last one was to Virginia, where she’s very happy using her engineering degree and think it’s going to be a while before the next one. It’s a chore, but I don’t see her much anymore, and will do it again if needed, that I can do…just wish she was closer, but she’s happy…

Tell her to hire movers next time. You are shielding her from the real world.
Oh, and tell her to find a guy and get married. He can help her move any time from now until the marriage and maybe beyond. Find a guy.

Better keep her room at your house intact

I doubt the guy who raised a college graduate daughter needs advice from a guy who thinks boobs feel like bags of sand.

Your daughter needs a boyfriend with a truck
I did 5 moves around Auburn for my girlfriend, she did marry me so I guess we're even. Well probably not.

I have a couple of kids who graduated from a real university. My advice has been solid.

If true then you should find the idea of a dad helping his daughter self move being a shield from the real world as ridiculous as the rest of us.

Hopefully, Auburn teaches grammar.

My daughter is now 7 and the fact I only have a handful of pickup and carry to bed moments bums me out. Proud of the little lady she is becoming but miss my little baby as well.

Zero, but she’s 11
I moved a lot when I was young.
To college.
To new apartment
To new apartment
To a job
To another city
To a condo in that city
To another city
Etc

It may feel like a burden, but cherish those times with her and know that she’ll be there to help when you’re old and can’t wipe your own arse anymore.

Into dorm last year, out of dorm into apartment this week.
Her boyfriend helped so that was great. But at 42, I feel like I’m too old for this nonsense. Hope her next move is paid for by her new employer

Let's see...
- to college, then home and back after each semester per dorm rules (8)
- to first job/apartment
- to second apartment
So, 10 times. after getting her into the second apartment (and up 2 flights of stairs), she presented me with a list of 20 things she wanted hung on the walls. I told her no, that I had driven 800 miles to help her move, not to help her decorate, and I was done. She didn't much like that, but such is life. I also told her fiancé that she was his problem now, that I was tired of moving her. They have since married and moved 3 times, all without me and my truck.
