And the travel ball cliche kicks it up a notch...

Let me preface this by saying I have two kids playing travel baseball. They are on teams where all the kids played rec ball at the same park when younger. No one was recruited from miles away. Only play four months of games and not much off season. Our goal for the boys is that MAYBE they will be good enough to ride the bench in high school. Fun and friends are a goal equal to winning.
That being said I see the things that lead to deserved mocking. The vape smoking moms that know more than any coach or umpire. The dads that argue a call like thety have money riding on it. The same dad that looks online for sports agents for their future big leaguer. The coach that makes Woody Hayes look soft. Enough tattoos to keep multiple tattoos shops in business and that is just the moms. And that is just the Livingston Parish teams. We played a Houston team that had kids from a 300 mile range.
So I look at a tournament we are playing this summer. They are pushing suites that cost two thousand and up for ONE game. Some folks have lost their mind.

Gotta spend money to make money.
Spend $100k on travel ball.. maybe the kid get a school to the local community college baseball team.

Does the suite include complimentary concessions? Asking for friend.

The phrase "attaboy" gets thrown around way too much

Here’s one that’ll piss off a lot of folks around here
My organization has been around awhile. Year after year we add more teams in all ages that aren’t very talented but want to “play travel ball” for “this team”. Parents gladly pay the fees. They get to tell their friends their son(s) now play travel baseball for this great organization.
All those fees cover coaches pay and 3 teams fees for the entire year

I know people here in Oklahoma that work full time and take their kid to a travel ball league in Plano. That's a 2 hour one-way drive. Every single bit of their existence revolves around getting to Plano for practices.

You do know that winning a sports game is useless in the grand scheme of things right?

Give parents no life and kids they want to make happy… this is what you get.

How hard is it to put something like this together? I would love to be a part of a team that plays ball all summer but doesn't play year round.
What are the average costs to get in a local tournament and can I just goggle these tournaments? I have done literally zero research on this because I didn't think these types of teams existed.
