FOX8 — Supplying a High: Louisiana becomes first state to ban retail sale of nitrous oxide

quote:

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry on Tuesday (May 28) signed into law a new measure to regulate the sale of nitrous oxide, following a series of Fox 8 reports.

quote:

The new law prohibits the sale of nitrous oxide in stores, increases penalties and fines for violators, and grants the Alcohol and Tobacco Control (ATC) greater authority to enforce these regulations. The measure seeks to address the growing use of nitrous oxide, particularly among young people. It will go into effect Aug. 1.

quote:

Nitrous oxide, intended for use in dental offices and in making whipped cream, is increasingly being misused as a recreational drug.

quote:

“This is a public safety bill that we hope further protects kids, so parents aren’t affected by this. One way to help them is to make sure the ability to get these substances is limited,” Gov. Landry said.

I’m sober 37 days and part of my relapse was nitrous.

Personally, I am going to miss the carnage on Broadway following Mardi Gras.

Another case of small government protecting the citizens from themselves.

I have a cold brew coffee keg that's N2O charged, so this is pretty annoying.

Just another thing you will just buy from Amazon instead of a local store

What a huge win!

Exactly, something missed by the low-IQ government dolts and those cheering this. Nothing is going to change except it just creates the incentive for people to travel out of state, buy the cartridges, then sell them in Louisiana.

Good news, you can literally go on to Amazon and buy them for much cheaper than you ever could have bought them in town. Which makes this legislation a completely pointless waste of time and money, very on point for Louisiana.

It was the work of a Kenner Activist and Joe Stagni.

quote:

Tomorrow, we make history. House Bill 64, which prohibits the retail sale of nitrous oxide, will be signed by the Governor, making Louisiana the first state in the country to do so.

This, in my opinion, was Divinely authored. Every piece of the process was a catalyst for the next; like a beautiful Rube Goldberg design. Or, more like a domino effect. And, like dominos, we each had a specific purpose that, if even one were removed, the chain reaction would halt. Allow me to tell you about God’s Divine process.

Jenna Combel was found unconscious due to Nitrous Oxide inhalation by her father Greg. This led Greg to discovering that Jenna had been using for quite some time and, like any good Daddy, he wanted to save his Baby Girl, but nobody would listen to his plea. That is, until he spoke to Rob Krieger. Rob is not only an amazing investigative journalist, but he is also one heck of a good guy. Rob cared. Rob listened. And Rob had the ability to make Jenna and Greg’s heartache a cause for change in the state of Louisiana. Rob had a platform and he used it. WVUE FOX 8 ran a series of stories, titled Supplying a High, that not only told Jenna and Greg’s story, but shone light on a epidemic that has widely been ignored and unknown. It was this coverage that led to my husband, walking out of his office and seeing his friend Greg on the tv.

He quickly turned up the volume and listened as Greg poured his heart out to the world (LINK My amazing husband is a man of action and he knew of one person that would care enough to not only listen to Greg, but also had the connections to fix the core of the problem through legislation. That person was me. John called me while at work and told me what he just watched. As a parent myself, my heart broke for Greg and Jenna. John asked me for a favor. He asked me if I could do something. And so I did. You see, over the last seven months I have been blessed to meet an
d work with some really great government officials. My campaigning for Arita Bohannan, who is now Jefferson Parish’s District 4 Councilwoman, has led me down a path that has also been Divinely inspired. Arita introduced me to Joe Stagni, one of our state representatives, and I knew right away that this man cared about Louisiana and he would always do whatever he could to improve it. So I called him. And without hesitation he immediately went into action. Joe filed a request to be heard at the the next legislative session which was only 2 months away. We had to work fast. Joe began working on the wording of the bill while I did research and also began meeting with Jenna and her family to hear their story and inform them of what Joe and I were doing. We were now all on the same page. We were now all working as one cohesive group. Rob Krieger kept coverage going. Joe filed the first wording of the bill. Jenna was recovering in the hospital. Greg and I began writing our testimony for the legislature. Joe continued to amend the bills wording. Debbie Villio, another really great state representative, came on board to sponsor and co-sign the bill. And on March 21st we were all present at the Capitol while the Louisiana house legislature unanimously passed HB 64 with a vote of 104 yeas to 0 nays (LINK (LINK That day I met Ashley Broha who’s fiancé died as a result of nitrous inhalation and was also present to testify in front of the legislature (LINK Ashley and I have remained in touch since. It took a lot for her to testify and she is still so hurt by her loss.

The bill was then sent on to the Louisiana Senate were, on May 14th, HB 64 passed unanimously with a vote of 38 yeas to 0 nays (LINK We had bipartisan support, unanimously. It’s almost unheard of. I’m so proud of everyone involved. Every person, every domino, had a part to play that was vital for the next to happen. This was Divinely authored. This is history. This is God.
