Great, my 17 year old daughter told me she hates me.

A little context, she graduated HS last weekend and thinks she can run the roads. Called my wife and me tonight asking if she could crash with her friend and the friend’s bf. Both over 18. Idea shot down by both wife and me and my daughter proceeds to argue and demand a reason.

Tell her hell no, come home at 11 or we come and get her. Then she dropped the hate bomb.

Pretty hurtful thing to say and hit me in the heart pretty hard. She’s talking to the Air Force recruiter soon, and, frankly, I think it’s best she sign up and hopefully grow up in the process.

I think this is going to be a long summer and we are gonna butt heads often. Any of you dads feel free to give advice.

My five year old daughter told me she doesn’t like me today and that she’s not my best friend. Cut me deep.

Young women are like cats. They will come and go as they please. You had 17 years to raise her and hopefully she doesn't frick her life up, but you ain't winning this war.

They are legit crazy.

Stay away and let their mom deal with them mostly.

There will be many crazy moments coming your way.

She needs her father now even if she doesn't know it. Be patient. Be kind. Be loving. Be consistent. And do what you think is right even if she doesn't. Good luck to you. It is going to be a long summer.

I have a daughter who is now in mid 20s. She graduated HS, unleash the rope. Ours didn’t cause many problems but from what I’ve seen her age isn’t uncommon to get like that, obviously preteen is also. Mid 20s is a good age, maybe early 20s women start wising up and grow back closer to parents. At least what I’ve seen from friends and other family. My boys are shitheads

Take her phone and throw it in the pool.
You’ll get your kid back if you do

If you want to send a message, next time she asks for money when you would normally say yes, the answer is no. When she bitches you simply say that you can't put her in the position of accepting money from someone she hates. Do not give in.

Need more context. Is this a long time friend you know their parents, or a "new" friend? 5 minutes down the street or 5 hours away?

When she gets knocked up by one of the cadets she will have to. Best to let nature take its course
