Louisiana isn’t exactly a hot bed for softball but it is definitely one of the better jobs in the country based on facilities alone, fan support and financial resources

It’s a great job

In the age of NIL, budgets are going to be slashed for all non-revenue producing sports. Many of them might even be eliminated. Pandora’s box has been opened.

Outside of Football, MBB, WBB and baseball, don’t expect LSU to invest from now on.

Title IX is above all other considerations. Schools cannot cut these women sports. Schools must provide opportunities to students proportionate to their percentages of the student body. LSU eliminated men's gymnastics and wrestling when Title IX was implemented.

You’re living in the past. Outside of WBB and maybe gymnastics, LSU will not invest as much in women’s sports. Sure they might keep them if they have to, but they won’t support them financially.

And title IX doesn’t require them to. The other women’s sports will basically become intramurals with an NCAA logo.

So you're saying that LSU needs to admit fewer women. Go on....

The comment was they might eliminate them. They can't if it results in fewer opportunities for women. The big issue is that schools have 85 football scholarships so there has to be more women's sports to balance the numbers. Women have 15 full softball scholarships, baseball has 11 to split as the schools decide.

Ok, so maybe they don’t eliminate them. Effectively it would be the same thing if, for example, they reduced the total softball budget to $250k a year tho, right? And that they can definitely do

As much as I agree with you on other things, I gotta disagree here. In this new NIL world, LSU is going to defund softball.

BB and gym will be safe bc of the NIL opportunities. Nobody in softball got anywhere near as much NIL as WBB and gym.

There’s no Livvy Dunne or Angel Reese on the softball team.

"Louisiana isn't exactly a softball hotbed"

LSU and Southwest Louisiana Junior College at Lafayette disagree.

LSU has the Resources and Facilities to become an Awakened Softball Giant with the right HC.

I would say for sure. LSU could be one of the best softball teams every year.
