I picked the Celtics to win it this year once they added Jrue Holiday. If they don’t win it this year with this team then they probably never will and some serious changes will need to be made.

Luka is the best player left, and possibly the best player in the league, give me the Mavs.

Who could possibly pull against the Mavs?

Kyrie Irving being overlooked. At first, when he joined the Mavs, he and Luka mixed as well as oil and water, but lately the two seem to go in scoring spurts to give the other a break to collect themself and conserve energy. It's a formidable 1-2 punch that works. The difference this year is the trades Dallas made back before the trade deadline. The surrounding cast is all contributing amazingly athletic plays.

This is such a worn out line. Tatum and Brown are only 26 and 27 years old, respectively. Their title window is open for a long time.

Gafford has been great for Dallas and didn’t relive Kidd could actually coach.

He’s got kyrie playing defense.

I've got Luka/Kyrie over Tatum/J Brown, getting to the second level it gets tighter if Porzingis is back and maybe on the second level I might give White/Holiday/Porzingis the nod over PJ/Gafford/Lively (shout out to El Dorado, AR) But its really close.

If the Luka stays healthy enough and Mavs finish off the Wolves, they will be my slight favorite.

I’ll always take the team opposite of Tatum when it comes to anything important.

The crazy thing is right before the trade happened & the Mavs were stuck in a rut there was serious talk around Dallas in the media that Kidd was going to be fired if they didn’t make the playoffs. The tide has certainly turned.

I am really surprised Dallas is 2-0. Minnesota looked really good beating Denver. If Dallas gets to the final, they will be crushed by Boston.

According to the Ringer's NBA player rank from April:

1. Luka #2
2. Tatum #7
3. Brown #25
4. Kyrie #30
5. Porzingis #39
6. White #42
7. Holiday #47

The Celtics have all five of their starters ranked in the top 50. They have a big talent advantage and will be favored against whoever they play.

He probably meant with the roster construction around them, not necessarily them. I wouldn’t blow it all up. They are very competitive year and year out, fans are packing the arena nightly, money is flowing, players are happy even if they aren’t quite maximizing their hardware. The risk outweighs the reward if you blow it up.

The starting five is all under contract for another year. Brown, Porzingis, and Holiday all recently signed extensions. Tatum will sign his this summer. White is expected to be extended next summer.

This team will be around for a while in its current form.

The Celtics also own all of their first round draft picks for the next 4 drafts which is rare for a team this well constructed. They’ll be able to place young role players around the starting 5 on cheap rookie contracts.

Payton Pritchard also recently signed an absolute steal of an extension for the next 4 seasons. He’s played awesome and his contract is only for 4yrs 30 million total.
