That doesn't matter to tarzana.

Even space city was focused on rain totals in the north

I'm looking for ground truth, not radar at 1,200+ feet off the ground.
Ok, good for you

Ground truth is what matters, and tarzana said there was a reading of a 110mph gust in downtown Houston. I asked her to provide the reading.
I can show you all sorts of wild winds well above the ground from prertty much any storm you want. All that matters is what was at ground level. I've seen some gusts, but nothing close to that. I'd like to know where it occured.

Tree down onto Ella on the southbound lane caused a clusterfrick but that got cleared this morning.
Still there as of 10 min ago… and dumbass in an 18 wheeler attempted to go around down the north lanes and was stuck.
Had to go to Jester then through neighborhood to get to 11th.

Oh frick.
I am stuck in meetings all morning so have not checked since earlier and it looked cleared as cars were not turning down our street any longer either.

KHOU Meteorologist David Paul mentions surface gusts in Spring Branch (about 12 miles from downtown) at 113mph in this video from last night

Up and down 290 is a mangled mess. Not sure if I can recall this much wind damage. Up and down 34th , nothing but huge tree damage. Some houses have one or two laying on top.

Spring Branch looks like a war zone.
Never seen this amount of wind destruction in Houston, even through hurricanes.
The winds had to be north of a cat 1.
Haven’t seen any significant restoration of power through heights/rice military along i10. The area usually does well with power.

That's a certainty. It just had to hit 70mph to get there.

I have a friend that lives near 290. A tree fell on his house exposing it to the outside world. It will more than likely have to be torn down. The level of destruction in the pics he sent me looked like cat 4 hurricane damage. I have another friend near Magnolia that lost power last night and still doesn't have it. Y'all hang in there.

Kroger on 43rd and surrounding area has power back. Hoping it’s making it’s way towards me.

I’ve seen very few Centerpoint Trucks anywhere near 10 through Heights and Memorial. Assuming the issue is at a major station servicing the area.
Centerpoint claims they have 4K line workers in Houston right now

Without sound stalkerish, what part of OF are you in? We are on the north side and without power.

Substation on 34th is a staging ground for Quanta and I’m seeing them all around.

We’re south of 43rd closer to Rosalyn. No power at the house yet. But went out to get better phone reception, grabbed a Myti burger and saw the power on in some places. Also got ice from the machine in the Aldi parking lot if you need any. Bring cash if you go to get anything. No ones taking cards.

used to live off of 43rd between Antoine and TC Jester for a few years. Was a fun area to live in back then.

I really am amazing at the lack of progress being shown on centerpoint’s site. Rice Military, Cottage Grove, Washington Heights, Heights… all the numbers out have held steady all day. No major decreases as of yet

Timbergrove is wrecked. Oaks down, no power. Valero at Studewood and Omar (just off 11th) selling gas!

Good info. Exxon gas station has power on Ella and Tidwell
Went over to Katy bucees to get ethanol free gas. Katy is fine. Power outages seem to start in spring branch. Right around blalock where ranch 99 is.
