Middle-class income range: $37,557 to $112,670
That's a hell of a spectrum. I can guarantee $37,557 is nowhere close to middle class. That is barely getting by.
Classes are typically divided into quintiles:
Bottom 20% - Lower
21-40% - lower middle
41-60% - middle
61-80% - upper middle
81-100 - upper
If they're using "middle" literally, it'd be anyone falling between the 21st and 80th percentiles, which would account for this huge range.
ETA: Why the hell was this moved to the Political Board?

I am catching back up to my Pre-Covid. Top 3% but want to get in the top 1%.

85th percentile as a single guy.
94th percentile as a household.
Apparently, I'm weighing Mrs. Tantal down.

Say you won't raise taxes on middle class and then redefine middle class.
The definition provided in the OP means the middle class can't afford to achieve the American dream.

LA $38,568
LOL...right
My wife and I make about 150K-175K a year, and live in a low cost area of Louisiana....It is comfortable but certainly not well off. $38K is low for a single person, for a family, it is poverty.

38K. It's just like politicians these days. They just blatantly lie to your face about everything and try and gaslight people.
I'm reading that as you find their numbers hard to believe.....Me too.

No way a person could live a middle class lifestyle on $38K in LA,
It's even worse. This is household income.
