Republicans control every level of this state right now and are doing nothing of note to improve our ranking.
Until we get out this uniparty mindset and start holding some of these morons in Baton Rouge accountable for their voting nothing will change.

What do these three states have in common? They lack “culture”

You don't have to go past their top 10 to realize the list is complete & utter shite.

The level of apathy is what keeps Louisiana at the bottom of lists like these. The high degree of Louisiana natives staying in Louisiana always confused me, but when you realize that apathy sets in, it makes sense.
For New Orleans in particular, it really is interesting how there always seems to be a “party” that’s the focus of life for a particular time: Mardi Gras, Jazzfest, crawfish, and then finally Saints football. Seems like the people are looking for a constant distraction.

You left out the parts about freezing your nuts off and how the sun goes down at 4:30 in the afternoon in the winter while the slush turns to ice.

Ban the Devil’s Lettuce and derivatives, pass legislation to conceal the governor’s and State Agency’s taxpayer funded communications, call a Constitutional Convention to be done in 2 weeks where no one knows what’s in it, and I’m sure we’ll move up next year.

I know it’s popular to shite on the state on this board, but for those still living there, do you feel like this is accurate? And if so, do you think you need to leave or that things can change for the better?
I feel like this is pretty accurate for the middle and lower class. If you’re in the top 10-15% income wise, you’ll have a good quality of life no matter where you live.

49 in natural environment is a joke.
you're telling me Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Nebraska have better natural environments?

It starts with the people first. it doesnt matter who is in office. We have a large percentage of people in this state that are completely fine with not working, not getting an education, and generally being a complete parasite to the people around them.
About the only thing you might be able to curtail is the crime and to do that would involve stuff thats meanie pants to the general public

This is home and most of us are in no position to leave. I enjoy the good things such as football, food, and culture but do my best to shield myself from the bad. There are some nice towns and cities to live in here. Would love to live in TX or FL though.

I read the blurb about Alabama. It says barely anything about Alabama in 2024. it's all from the entire time before 2010 when Democrats ran this state. Of course, they don't make that connection to Alabama's current slow but methodical rise through the ranks.

Its the only place I've seen where families try to keep their kids put instead of letting them see the rest of the country and grow.
Ultimately the parents know once the kids get out of Louisiana and see more of the country the likelihood they stay is slim.

the deep south just sucks in general. education, crime, traffic...
Is there a city in the south that does as bad as Baltimore in education? Where 2,000 students were deemed not proficient at grade level in math? Not one out of 2,000?
Crime? Uhh.. Chicago? Baltimore? Detroit? Oakland? The runaway state winner for per capita crime is New Mexico.
Traffic?? The south compared to the Northeast and Los Angeles area?
Just the same ole crap against the wall and see what sticks.

quote:And this right here is why we're in the shape we're in: Thinking government, of any party, is going to change things for the better by doing more. It's a democrat's mindset.

They need to do less, e.g., stop incentivizing and funding fatherless homes, stop incentivizing and funding able-bodied working age people to not work, stop funding those peoples' healthcare, etc. etc.
The only thing that's going to save society is incentivizing the nuclear household. Fix that, and in a generation it wouldn't even look like the same country. Because let's be honest, most of the bottom tier states have a large contingent of citizens who the democrat party has raped and pillaged and lead around by a carrot for a free ride on the voting bus. That contingent of people have been generations removed from having large sects of their culture having strong nuclear families, and it drags the rest of us and our "numbers" down.
It starts at home, and no politician can mitigate for that fact.

Let me see if I understand this. People who enjoy having a good time are just looking for distractions?
