So, the Dems are to blame for our lack of progress over the last quarter century?
During that entire time this state has been garnet red.
Both houses have been dominated by Republicans for two decades or more and the ONLY reason JBE was elected was because of the remarkably bad (even byLa. Standards) performance by Jindal that nearly killed the state.
Blame JBE for doing little or nothing, but he had huge GOP majorities in both houses opposing him at every turn.
The Dems deserve criticism thru the EWE years
Afterwards it’s the GOP.
Now the Repubs have supermajorities and the Gov.
Truth is, it’s not the parties. It’s the people who are electing these idiots.

Louisiana gets criticized for too much crime.

Louisiana gets criticized for its incarceration rate.

What are we supposed to do?

We have 4 seasons. I don’t sweat my balls off 10 months a year and I have a white Christmas every year. Don’t need to wear flip flops at Christmas. Plus, we have these things called jackets. Again, you have no context or else you know how plows or snowblowers work and having snow is actually pretty nice. I’ll take at 20 degree day for a few months vs 100 degrees for 8 any day.

First thing, do not sell hard liquor on Sundays. A large majority of murders has one of two people under the influence. Its just one day a week break for the non-alcoholics who didnt prepare to buy that much liquor thus deferring if not preventing at least a small window of crime.

Small steps.

Also, stricter DWI laws. There are people in Louisiana driving around with 4-5 DWIs. Its no wonder why your car insurance rates are insane.

High school, college? High school sports are pretty strong in NH and Mass., plus I can't and don't care about the difference b/w a LA high school football game or one in Mass.

College-wise, sure, SEC is dominant but again, I can go to any SEC game I want, plus the Northeast is strong in a number of sports such as basketball, soccer, and hockey. Lots of minor league baseball and as much pro sports as you want.

Is there a city in the south that does as bad as Baltimore in education? Where 2,000 students were deemed not proficient at grade level in math? Not one out of 2,000?

That’s Baltimore proper. The suburbs around Baltimore are extremely wealthy and have some of the best education rates in the country. I can assure you that the academic rankings of a suburb like Bethesda is the complete opposite of those of Greenmount East
