Honey Badger is a fan of coach Allen

Dennis Allen took over as the head coach of the New Orleans Saints in 2022 after Sean Payton decided to step away from coaching. While he hasn't been the most popular coach during his tenure, Saints safety Tyrann Mathieu recently spoke up on behalf of his coach.
Mathieu sounded off on X, noting that Allen is one of the best coaches he's been around. Demario Davis also responded to the slander with the shouting emojis, signaling that he agrees with his teammate.

DA's demeanor gets him a bad reputation from fans but it can be a demeanor that his players can often appreciate. We need an alpha on the offensive side of the ball and then i really do think Dennis Allen can have success in this league.

Allen is a nice guy, so yes I can see players liking him. I like him as a person. That's different than commanding a room though. I think they like but don't respect him as a coach. If they did then they wouldn't call their own plays at the LOS to spite his decisions.

It was a team decision!
In all honesty, I don’t think DA connects with the players or holds them accountable like CSP. Even Kamara talked about how some players weren’t putting in the work last year. Players shouldn’t have to do that, the coach should handle that.
Couple that with DA’s inability to stand up to alpha personalities like MT13, CJGJ and Latt and that’s a problem.
Allen is a great coordinator. Great! But he’s a bad head coach. Bad!

Players liking a coach doesn't make the coach actually a good coach. It means they are happy with him and clearly from how they play throughout the last couple of years, aren't that driven to win. They don't seem to take the underperformances personally.
Most of these guys are there and care about getting their check, not winning championships, so forgive many of us if we don't care if the players like the coach or not.

This is the truth. A HC's job is completely different from that of a coordinator and that of a position coach. He is the manager, organizer of the team, and he is the manager of player personalities. Allen has proven he is great at game planning and defensive strategy; however, he has also proven he can't run a full team and manage all the nuances involved in being a HC. He's a super nice, upstanding guy, and he's a great coordinator; he's also a bad HC.

It seems Lattimore is the only player on the defensive side that has ever had an issue with DA ... now I think if you polled the offense, you would get a completely different vibe

Pretty much.
I've got no problem with DA blowing up in a good way and team playing well and winning
division. Nor do I have a problem if we blow up in a bad way cause he's gone. What I worry about is a up and down year again and the FO sticking again with DA.

This is a really good point

ok just because you like him as a person and a defensive coach doesnt mean he is a good head coach or fit to lead a team

while the Saints haven't been consistent, I don't think the players have quit on DA.
First of all, you have to put good tape out there year after year to keep a job or get one somewhere else.
When the Chargers got rolled up by the raiders last year on Thursday night football, 63-21 that was a sign of a team that quit on the coach.
The Lions game sure got off to the kind of start where you thought maybe the players had quit on DA but the final in that one only ended up being 33-28. After a 21-0 first quarter and trailing 24-7 at the half.

DA should have hired ex HCs on both sides of ball. This is his last shot as HC. He needs to swing for the fences. It's too late, he will be replaced in January.

The Saints have played hard through week 18 in both seasons under CDA. Wasn't always the case with Payton

Da Honey Badger was also a Matt House fan.
