Virginia school board votes to restore Confederate names

quote:

The Shenandoah County School Board voted 5-1 to reinstate the names of Stonewall Jackson High and Ashby-Lee Elementary in Quicksburg.

Community members had been pushing for a reversal, arguing the 2020 name change was unpopular.

The vote marked the first such U-turn anywhere in the US.

As Johnny Cash sang “God Bless Robert E Lee”. Even his enemies respected him. Lee urged reconciliation after the war. But modern revisionists denigrated the man. So good for this school board.

That's a helluva lot closer to DC than I would have thought. I had always said that if the South ever seceded again, Richmond, VA would certainly NOT be the capital. Is it possible that I was wrong about Virginia and they still have some people that aren't slobbering dogs for the DC elite?

I live very close to that exact area. The people around there are good people with common sense.

Glad to see this. They are building a 2nd high school in Harrisonburg VA and calling it Harrisonburg high 2. nobody wants to name it after anybody in fear they are racists.
