Neil is a terrible defensive catcher

Quick question, how many titles have the A’s won with this approach?

I feel like TD gives away a yearly award for being the biggest dumbarse…I’m convinced Rudy is trying to win it this year.

This is how I know you don't understand what Moneyball actually is.

Kling is suffering from confidence deficit and an aggressive approach at the plate
Given what we have seen last year and this year.... at what point can you stop blaming confidence and start thinking that he just isnt a good hitter? I agree that he is ultra talented. He just may not have it at the plate.

Oh no, I do.

He's damn near at the end of year 2. If he's still struggling with confidence he needs a psychiatrist

Do you not understand how important it is for our lineup if his speed is on the bases 40% of the time
Except he's not on base 40% of the time in league play which is where we are at

Few more A BUST on weekends also!

Regardless of all the arguing on this thread about Kling, multiple people have been given opportunities to take it from him and nobody has. At this point you play Kling in CF and put him in the 8/9 hole for the rest of the season and hope for the best.

If he cut that fricking mop on his skillet head he just might hit better

He could go out there looking like Brittany Spears after she had her episode and not much would change. I’m not a fan of the girl hair either but nothing is likely to improve until he gets around 150 plate appearances

I can say you keep me entertained FredBull. Every time I read one of your posts I can't stop laughing.

He didn't start any games against #1 team in country . Also it hasn't taken Larson 150 plate appearances to hit SEC pitching why do you think 150 is some magic number bull.

Just don’t start laughing while you are eating one of your boogers.

There is no magic number. It can take different players different time to have it click. Which is a reason you don't give up on Kling even after 2 years. If it does click, then the potential he brings is great. If it doesn't click, other guys get opportunities to pass him up.
Plenty players have struggled for 2 years in college and then the third year it has clicked and they have a breakout year. Not saying that will happen to Kling but they do have glimpses of hope in his play.
And before you come with your SEC stats that you have been beating a dead horse with, my comments have nothing to do with his stats. He has not been what we wanted and we all know that. The potential is what will keep him around and keep giving him opportunities even at this point of his career.

quote:In those 4 wins
Klinger led off in both wins against Missouri and both wins against Auburn
Kling went
0-3, 2ks, no walks
0-3, 1k, 1 walk
2-5, 2ks, no walks
1-4, 0ks, 1 walk
So in those 4 wins he was
.200 BA / .300 OBP / 5 ks / 2 walks
Yeh, don’t think that contributed much
But you have to play 3 outfielders
After Larson and Pearson it’s Kling

Getting on base is great if we have someone behind him that can hit him in or advance him. The problem is we don’t . He was supposed be one of our guys that can hit runners in. We need more power hitters in the lineup like we had in Dugas, jobert, and beloso last year. Hell even Thompson had pop in his bat. He had 2 homers including a grand slam against Kentucky last year. Kling with all his at bats this year has 1 home run. One!!! That’s just not gonna help win you many games.
