This should be expected for the Midwest and South all summer long

Is there any reason for the extended dry periods that have been occurring much more frequently along the gulf coast?
Last two summers we had over month long periods where high pressure camped out and all but stopped afternoon showers.

Not really though. Summer severe is mostly derechos and hurricanes for the coastal baws.
Gotta say, for me, ready for the fricking snow to stop.

Tornado season usually calms down after May, especially for the Deep South. Typically we don’t get tornadoes down here from June through September unless they’re associated with a landfalling tropical system.

The SPC Day 1 discussion is one of the most complex I have read. There is a whole lot going into the setup over the next 2-3 days. Lots of moving parts.

Some pretty rough storms around Kalamazoo, with tornado warnings.

[4:12 pm - 5/7/24] Our survey team looking at the damage from last night's Barnsdall tornado have found low end EF4 damage. They continue to survey damage along the track so this rating remains preliminary. #okwx

That southern most storm in MI is on the ground.
ETA: and now it isn't.
ETAA: maybe it is.
