How is the crime and racism in bham? Want to check that town out oneday
Racism? Not sure how to respond to that. By and large, people get along fine and the overwhelming majority of people are past that (although admittedly some of the local politicians would have you believe it’s still 1963).
Crime is a problem, but mostly limited to the bad parts of the city. It’s a rough rule of thumb, but if you avoid west of I65 and north of I20 you should be fine. Downtown is good, and there are other good areas in the city limits.

Texas sounds depressing bro. Texans swear by it though...
It is. The only reason why most people move here is because of job opportunities. No one moves here for scenery or weather because we have neither of those.
Our cities are basically sprawled suburbs with no culture or history.

I can’t speak for other cities, but like Birmingham, I’m sure there’s two cities within each city. Parts of the SE quadrant of Birmingham are extremely nice, mostly filled in DINKs consisting of doctors, lawyers, and researchers at UAB.

This doesn’t even make sense. Where is this in Baton Rouge?

Crime is same as most major cities. It is very cosmopolitan with all sorts of amazing ethnic foods. Cost of living is also pretty good given it is a major city. Lots of job opportunities Hermann park is lovely as is Discovery Green. There are many food options here for all budgets and easily accessible. There are lot of sporting and cultural activities such as the annual rodeo etc.
Interesting reasoning, here

Something wrong on this list if Gary, IN isn’t included.

If you don’t venture to the west side of 65, Birmingham is a great area to live in.

I’ve never witnessed nor experienced a single crime living in and around Bham for 53 years. Most of that was in the areas described as bad, western Jefferson County. There are obviously some parts of town that are similar to Mogadishu, but you don’t accidentally wind up there.
