If you think this seems random, you'd be right....except that this isn't far from where a lot of people are speculating that LSU's new 20,000 seat arena will go up.

A mixed-use development is being proposed for a 22-acre stretch along Nicholson Drive.
Commercial Properties Realty Trust proposed rezoning the land from a planned unit development to a mixed-use development, according to an application filed with the Planning Commission.
The plans for the property are subject to approval by the Planning Commission, which is expected to consider the item at its June meeting.
The development would comprise 80 medium density units, 380 high density units, open space, and 287,000 square feet of commercial space. It is located north of Magnolia Mound Plantation along Garner Avenue and Oregon Street.
Commercial Properties acquired 63 properties on roughly 30 acres off Nicholson Drive last year.

High Density Housing next to the ghetto. Sounds so appealing.

Apartments should be illegal

ETA: I thought most people were speculating that LSU would look at the south side of campus? How much property does LSU own on Nicholson north of the gates?

Can we start a fund for LSU to buy out all the surrounding ghetto?

If they put the arena off campus Kim will lose her mind.

I’m pretty sure they said they were looking at property LSU already owned. Someone correct me if I’m wrong.
Granted, that doesn’t mean it would need to go “on campus” in the traditional sense.. LSU owns plenty of property that most people wouldn’t refer to as “on LSU campus.” But it narrows things down.

Kim may hang it up by the time that arena is built. If it gets built.

When will people learn when it comes to the utter destruction apartments bring to communities?

How about they buy tigerland and all those areas and just raze it to the ground.
Then build it there.
If you take out the ghetto, you can build it back nicer and safer

One of the things she didn't like at Baylor (in addition to losing attention to the men winning) was the fact that the new arena was built on the "wrong" side of I-35.

It’s 100% going on the LSU Golf Course. They need to visible to the public. Tigerland will look much different in about 10 years.

Kim will be long retired before lsu ever plays a game in a new stadium

Where will the new arena be located?
The new arena will be constructed on LSU’s campus. More specifically, Landry says a site in the vicinity of the university’s baseball facilities on Skip Bertman Drive seems to make the most sense, though he stresses that nothing is set in stone.
One of the sites originally considered for the arena was the area next to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center where LSU’s track and field facilities are currently located. Those plans were scrapped, however, due to the considerable cost of relocating the track and field facilities.
Commercial Properties Realty Trust, which develops and manages property holdings of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, purchased about 40 acres of rundown land on Nicholson Drive last year. Landry says that land is “absolutely not” being considered for the arena, though establishments like hotels and restaurants will likely be constructed there to support the arena.

This is where it needs to go.

That seems like a very fine area of town to live in.
You can even walk to Chinese Inn to pick up your food instead of having a guy deliver with his baby in the bask seat.

It is. The original idea was the move the track there instead of the basketball arena because at least basketball/volleyball could actually be ON campus instead of being a short drive away. The original numbers to move T&F to the golf course were lower and engineers came out and laughed at those projections.
Instead of spending $100mm to move T&F, they would rather spend probably $500mm to build basketball its own thing. Finally, we're going to use that awful golf course for something after all.

Gotta make big buildings to house all of the illegals

Would have been great to have that light rail line between downtown and LSU for this (that the feds would have essentially paid for)
But, no...North BR needed sidewalks instead.
