Politico wrote that as of Jan 1, 2024, there have been zero, none, nada federal charging stations installed under the three year old federal ev charging station program.
That guy Buttigei , should just hire Buckee's to run the program. He should also require that 1000,,, 300 dollar chargers be mounted on lite poles to show positive improvement and get away from being called zero.

Well a Bucees is the only place you could spend 45 minutes in to kill time and stuff your face. Maybe Bucees could add a few tables so you can eat inside.
About the only other place you could spend 45 minutes to charge your car is a video poker truck stop casino in Louisiana. Although any savings over gasoline is lost due to you gambling the savings away. Maybe Louisiana could add EV charging to its mix of diesel sale requirements for the number of machines allowed per location and add other games including video slots.
Instead of Cash Magic Truck Stop and Casino, they can rebrand. Cash Magic EV Charging and Casino.

On top of the garage at my 24 hour fitness in Houston they have a bunch of these installed. Any one time i part there i see like 10 or more cars up there just hanging out while their cars charge. I always wonder how long theyve been up there...just waiting.
I imagine in the beginning its fun and part of the experience. After 2 months its gotta be this sucks.

In the short term, the push to make EVs the predominant vehicle for personal travel will only prove we're still 10-15 years away from EVs truly competing with gas powered vehicles for convenience. Most Americans don't want to frick around for an hour while waiting for their EV to charge when driving long distances across the country......if they can find a receptacle to charge.

Buckees is the most overrated gas station ever.

I'm confused.... When consumers pull their EVs into these charging stations, is the electricity free or very cheap?
If not, why even change from gas to ev?

It depends some Teslas came with lifetime free charging at Tesla Superchargers, but if you are no where near one you have to depend on a place providing a free charger or a Third party charging network like Electrify America which charges about 3-4 times the going rate for electricity per kWH.

There are definitely some chargers out there. I see them in the VA parking lot when I drive by, for example. When I'm elected, there's going to be zero. No stations. No money. No subsidies etc. No designated parking for EVs, no EV fleets. I'll take all the existing EVs and send them to the range for target practice.

F*ck that. First the shite-libs get their charging stations at Bucc-ees, next thing they want to replace the brisket station with bug paste sandwiches and edamame

If you’re just getting gas, then yeah, I agree, but Buccee’s is a whole lot more than just a gas station.
