Andrew Johnson should be the most forgettable. He held a grudge against the South after the war and almost got impeached by one vote.
He might be the worst, but your history on him is the opposite of reality. He was impeached by republicans though because they thought he was way too soft on the South.

Van Buren
Might be the most important politician Americans have never heard of. He practically invented the modern political system we have today.

George HW Bush is pretty forgettable too. And he actually served a full term.
Well, he was following up one of the greatest presidents in American history.
Following up the Gipper is about like following up Bear Bryant.

Actually I think that most people know that there was a long ago President who died after 30 days. It’s just that most people don’t remember what the president’s name was or exactly when he served. Still, dying after 30 days is more notable than anything Van Buren, Arthur or Ben Harrison did as president.

I know about Rutherford B. Hayes because he is my great-great-great-great uncle.
I even inherited a pair of candlestick holders that (reportedly) belonged to him.
Whatever your opinions are about the 1876 election, Hayes had an interesting life.

He raised taxes when he said he wouldn’t.
Gulf War I comes to mind. I was only 10 at the time.
Economy was in the shitter after the tax increases and the instability in the Middle East as the war ended but Saddam stayed in power.
1992 comes along, Bill Clinton comes riding in on “it’s the economy stupid” and with the help of Ross Perot, Bush loses his second term.

Harding used to be known for being considered the worst president ever. But he’s now at least moved ahead of James Buchanan on those lists.

Millard Filmore should be opposite of forgettable. He was the last President who was a member of the Whig party. Opened up trade relations with Japan. Started the first library in the White House. Signed the Fugitive Slave Act, which may have been one of the biggest contributors to the Civil War. By the end of his presidency, he was so unpopular that his own party chose not to nominate him. Then, years later he got involved in the Know Nothing party.

I mean...how many of you have really heard of the following:
Millard Fillmore
Franklin Pierce
Rutherford B. Hayes
James Garfield
I'm distantly related to Franklin Pierce. So that's the only reason I know about him. My aunt used to make a big deal over it telling me we had a president in the family. Nevermind the fact that he was one of the worst presidents in our history! LOL
