This lawsuit plus Title 9 is going to create logistical nightmares for these schools. Title 9 cost LSU a wrestling program if memory serves, I know there was one back in 1980. They need another women's sport to give scholarships to help offset football's 85.

Lol at a swimmer suing to get a slice of media rights revenue. When’s the last time you saw college swim meets on TV?

I always thought that LSU was able to recruit in-state players and have them go on TOPS, so that they could save the actual baseball scholarships to pursue our top out-of-state recruits.
So effectively, TOPS being extra scholarships that LSU could use for in-state players. Now if every team had full scholarships to use on every player on the roster, LSU loses the advantage provided by TOPS

Afraid to watch. Not trying to see a twig and berries pop out a swimsuit during a women’s 100 meter backstroke.

Would’ve been nice when I played. I got like 1/4th of a scholly.

I don’t like the roster reduction attached to it.

It probably would’ve been a negative in the past, but in the NIL era and with the team now having such a national footprint it’s probably a wash.

I'd bet that a majority of schools who play baseball would elect NOT to fund 30-40 baseball scholarships. All schools already lose money funding baseball at 11.75 schollies. Funding schollies is about the largest expense of a baseball program in most places.

yep, by and large baseball is a non-revenue generating sport, LSU is an outlier and exception, thanks perfect storm of Skip arriving and TV revenues, I was a preferred walk on and not having a scholarship(or in my case, it would have been a piece of a scholarship,) was a blessing in disguise, LSU was dirt cheap, I could work whatever jobs I wanted to and wasn't bound by some of the rules that pertained to the scholarship dudes, they treated us like shite though

If football succeeds from the ncaa and becomes a entity amongst itself, with it’s own rules, wouldn’t football be exempt from title lX

I think the rules changed mid2000s. I could be wrong.

Title IX is not an NCAA rule. It is Federal law.
IMO, football's 85 schollies should NOT count in Title IX considerations since football revenue pays for all non-revenue sports (men and women) already.

Title IX was passed in '72, implementation began, iirc, in '75

No, it won’t hurt LSU.
We are in the age of NIL. Tops is irrelevant now. LSU has a major advantage on most programs in terms of our major support of baseball over most.

I’m referring to using tops for baseball scholarships.
