Would you take Reed, Hield and some filler?

Nearly all Philly’s guys are FAs but Embiid. They have a few young guys under contract and a lot of high dollar cap holds.

There’s no need to fit anyone into a trade exception. This would surely be a three team deal, and the ability for the Pels to give way less salary to a third team adds a lot of possibilities. The Hawks as an example have a lot of very expensive contracts and could definitely use some cost cutting. Not saying they would or wouldn’t do it, but turning Trae into Dyson Daniel’s, a bunch of picks and $40 million in savings could certainly change their direction.
It’s intriguing as far as the additional possibilities here.

My point with the TPE is “If we are taking the BI deal in a vacuum, we have to use the TPE. If we are doing a multi-team trade, all teams have to “touch” unless it is non-simultaneous.”
I don’t want us to get stuck with a huge TPE we can’t or won’t use in place of our 2nd best player. I would rather a player now to fill that slot.

Only way that deal works is if we have a non-simultaneous trade where we get a good player in from another team.
What is a $28m TPE if you aren’t going to use it?
It's Stupid Idea Season, just play along. This is the rejected Houston Pupu Platter Trade 2.0. Way too complex to end up favorable.

I will definitely echo everyone else here and say that is an awful trade if we don't use the TPE, but a good one if we have something else lined up

Who out there would be shopping for a CJ?

2 years, 64mil
Imagine a team like the magic can and would be interested as they'll lose 2-3 guards this offseason.

Ahh, it feels like the good old days, convincing ourselves that there is some magical trade that will turn Lamar Odom, Luis Scola, and Kevin Martin into a borderline all-star.
You don't trade a dollar for 4 quarters, much less 4 dimes.

Jesus dude, Kevin Martin was traded for a young James Harden. Terrible example.

In most cases this is true. But Ingram isn't some superstar and at $50 million, he's a negative and you're better off with nothing than having to pay even more assets to dump him.

Along with Jeremy Lamb, two 1sts, and a second. That said, nobody at that point was expecting Presti to go full retard.
You're welcome to find your posts detailing your plan to bring in Harden, because I don't remember Harden's name coming up once in those fantasy future trades. Harden was also traded a full year later, which would have stuck us in purgatory, missing our opportunity at winning the lottery for Davis.

I think you're wrong.

Funny because I actually posted MANY many posts at the time how the Lakers trade was a good value trade. We also got Dragic and a first out of that deal. The point isn’t if we would have or not, it’s that the value is there that you can. We could have ended up with Dragic and James Harden with any sort of vision. Too many can’t see beyond the first step. Just take a look at this thread. Most of the board sees Philly interested, and they go back and forth on a trade exception, instead of focusing on what that could open up with other trades and teams maybe looking to take on less money in a bigger structure.
Anyway, there isn’t only one way a BI trade could benefit us in the long run. Open up your mind to the possibilities.

And that's why I hope Griffin does the exact opposite of what you think he should. That trade was a fricking abomination for us and Dell Demps should have been fired the minute he suggested it to Stern.

One of these days we'll see that 14-team trade you've been envisioning.

The point of the back and forth is that, without some certainty of what we can get as part of a multi-team trade or using that TPE, it arguably puts us in a position where we have done a massive cap dump that puts us in a worse position on the court.
Griff et all need to know what we need to be getting (point, microwave, starting center, backup 4-5) and figure out what the best options are given the space opened up by moving BI and any picks received.
Cause there needs to be follow-through and we have seen cases where Griff had certain plans in mind then ended up throwing shite at a wall when options 1 and 2 didn’t materialize. That is how you trade a first for Devonte Graham.

Gotta love when people stick with their wrong answer even after the correct answer has been provided.
Anyway, regarding the Sixers, looks like best you can get is their 2024 first on draft night, 2028 unprotected Clips picks and unprotected 2030 Sixers (along with convoluted swaps Im sure). It’s not a very enticing package even in the best of scenarios to offer around.

Is that why the Wizards had to give up 6 2nd round picks and 4 pick swaps to send Bradley Beal and his 4/$200M contract to Phoenix?
NO. It was the Wizards that recieved 6 2nd round picks and 4 1st round pick swaps for a guy with $200M left on his contract that had missed 32, 42, 22, and 15 games a year the last 4 years that shot 34.5% from 3 during that time as one of the most inefficient chuckers in the league.
