Who on Philly would we want in return in a potential trade?

In b4 Maxey
Seriously though, I really like Paul Reed. But he's the only guy on that roster that I think makes any sense.

They would need to add another team. Other than Maxey there isn’t anyone on that team that would fulfill that deal. Hield can be included as a piece but and they won’t part with Maxey.

Their roster is basically Embiid and a bunch of cap holds for expired guys like Maxey and Tobias Harris.
I’m not opposed to getting some of those guys but doing sign and trades for them hard caps is IIRC.
Their available picks also suck due to a variety of past trades, two of which involved James Harden. They lost some picks outright and have the worst choice out of multiple pick swaps on others.
I would say any one on one deal with them involves a massive salary dump on our part while getting multiple sign and trade guys like Harris and Maxey back between the lack of value Philly has outside pure cap space and the hard cap affecting us this season for doing so.
Multi-team trades are feasible but few teams are going to want to be involved without a premium piece going there way since Philly is likely getting the best player in BI short of sending out Embiid.

Only way that deal works is if we have a non-simultaneous trade where we get a good player in from another team.
What is a $28m TPE if you aren’t going to use it?

My thoughts as well.
You'd also HAVE to trade CJ and Nance with picks to get some players of value, because that trade does absolutely very little for you now

It would have to be something like BI to philly, philly picks and TPE to ATL, and Paul Reed & Dejounte to NOLA.

As others have said, you can only do that trade if you have another trade lined up to move those picks for a difference maker.

IF we were doing a total rebuild and the idea was that the Clip Show and Sixers were going to collapse under their own weight, there may be some decent picks there.
But we just did this with both the Lakers and Bucks with mainly Dyson to show for it as of now.

Question still remains of why the Hawks would do that if Philly’s available picks are mainly contingent on them or the Clip Show bottoming out in a few years.
Atlanta would be sending out a good player and the TPE for Murray isn’t enough to fix all the holes in that lineup.

Yeah, exactly.
That's a Utah Jazz or 3 years ago OKC move.
We are trying to win and win now, that deal makes very little sense unless two other moves are already lined up. 1 for the TPE, and one using CJ/Nance (Reed would take Nance's place).

yeah im not sure. We know they're gonna split up Trae and DM. Maybe it's the best offer they get and they then use those picks to flip for another guy?

Who out there would be shopping for a CJ? That is $30m+ for two seasons on an aging undersized 2. A young team needing a veteran presence would be interested but the likes of Detroit doesn’t need a veteran combo guard with the likes of Cade and Ivey there.
I see Nance as ballast at this point due to injuries.

We’ll see.
I’m sure it is just smoke to bolster offers for Murray but the current line is that they may keep Murray over Trae.
Philly could theoretically get Trae and put him next to Embiid over putting BI there if they used their cap space to facilitate moves for other teams.

I actually think Orlando makes a ton of sense for CJ. They need offense and shooting badly and their defense is good enough to cover up CJ. They have a ton of cap space and could take on CJ without giving up a ton of salary. CJ's big contract doesnt affect them that much since it'll be over by the time Paolo's max kicks in. They could trade WCJ for CJ and it works money wise and they could start Isaac at center
CJ, Suggs, Franz, Paolo, Isaac is a pretty damn good team

Would you take Reed, Hield and some filler?

I am firmly in the trade BI camp. However, I don’t see any possibility of moving BI to Philly without a third team involved. Philly has nothing to make us better.

Dejounte Murray would fit in a $28 million trade exception, the question is what do you need to give Atlanta for Murray.
Posted on 5/3/24 at 11:21 am to TigerinATL
Probably picks given that the Murray trade cost them a lot.
We potentially send them our pick this year and possibly one of either our pick or the Lakers’ pick next season.
