That was his Fruitcakes tour and he had a big band along with horns and extra vocals. Excellent show, the best Buffet concert I ever saw. It was flooding around Baton Rouge at the time and he closed with Louisiana 1929 which was perfect.

Saw the Rolling Stones in Baton Rouge June 1, 1975. Won tickets from an AM radio station in Port Allen. I wasn't even old enough to drive so I convinced my dad to take me. On the way home I remember him saying that all of the smoke in there got him high and that he really enjoyed Billy Preston.
You know how hard or lucky you had to be to win tickets being the 14th caller dialing from a rotary phone without redial capability .... LOL

I went to the Van Halen concert there in 1984. Awesome show!

I saw the Guns show, they were about an hour late and the natives were getting restless. Saw Buffet.
It’s not listed but saw REM for Green tour and Metallica there for the Black album.

I'm sure someone has mentioned Elvis in 74 or 75. Mom drug me to my first concert as an 8 y/o. I remember bloated jump suit Elvis with spotlights. Also Van Halen 84 and Metallica 92. One I bet people miss is Culture Club 84/85. I lived in Hodges, didn't attend. Don't judge.

Beaver Productions presented Bush, Toadies, and Hum there in 95 or 96.
A very skinny 14 year old me got destroyed in the pit by the LSU football team. Dont ask why there was a “pit” for Bush.
The 3 6 Mafia pit at Groovin’ on the Grounds years later was more welcoming.
Add-On: the school forced a second viewing of Hells Bells on us in Bible class when administration found out a few of us were attending rock concerts.

Def Leppard played the PMAC in '88.

I was there and 17 at the time, probably pretty close to you. I was against the the front barricade center right. That’s where I heard Hum for the first time, still one my favorites.

Saw Bad Company in '78 and Styx in '79 at the PMAC

Elton John in 1974 - Elton comes out in this huge feathery hat. I go into a mushroom induced paranoia and can’t stop staring at his hat for the rest of the concert
Led Zeppelin in 1975 - I party heavily that afternoon leading up to the concert. Get inside the Assembly Center and sit down in the concourse area to rest before the concert . Pass out and wake up when the show is over and everyone is leaving.

The Grateful Dead played there when it was The Assembly center. I use to have a bootleg of it.

This show was in the Centroplex and was absolutely horrible. Joe and Steven were so loaded they could hardly perform and the sound quality was atrocious.

BS also played there in 1978 and 1980.

Also in '75.

Centroplex. There was such a crowd at the front gate that my friend and I just walked in w/o a ticket and were mere feet from the stage.

1980, too.
Some of the other shows you listed were in the Centrolplex as well, but your list gives a good indication of the cool shows that used to pass through BR back in the day. I'll also add that REM played at The Bayou on Chimes Street in 1982.
Bachman Turner Overdrive (w/The Climax Blues Band) played at the Assembly Center in 1975.
Foghat played there in 1978.
Styx (w/Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush) played there when I was in high school (not sure of the exact year).
Blondie, Bad Company, and Peter Frampton played there in '79.

I was going to LSU at the time (1981) and we were wondering what was going on, so my roommate and I walked up the PMAC (Assembly Center then) ramp and walked thru the doors without ticket and just sat down and watched the show. It was The Beach Boys and there were lots of people but nobody told us not to sit down and enjoy the show so we did...... I know, not CSB. Lol.

I think MC Hammer played there or maybe it was the Centroplex but he definitely played in BR in the early 90's.

John Denver tried to bang my mom’s college friend after that 78 concert and then kind of stalked her the rest of his life. CSB

Jethro Tull in early 70’s. Played full “Thick as a Brick”
