McDonald’s is looking to potentially beef up its offerings with a bigger burger.

CFO Ian Borden said Tuesday McDonald’s has "created a larger satiating burger" as the fast-food giant "look[s] to further build on our leadership in beef."

"We’ll be testing this burger in a few markets later this year, ensuring that it has universal appeal before scaling it across the globe," he added.

"We’re addressing an unmet customer need across markets for larger high-quality burgers," CEO Chris Kempczinski said in early February. "We’re working horizontally across the system to innovate. As we test and learn, we’ll be working to understand how the new offering will complement our already established burgers, like the Double QPC [Quarter Pounder with Cheese] or the Big Tasty."

In late January, U.S. locations added the Double Big Mac and its four beef patties to menus for a "limited time."

Over the past year, McDonald’s has made various changes to its popular cheeseburger, double cheeseburger, hamburger, McDouble and Big Mac.

The tweaks, made through its "Best Burger" initiative, aimed to make burgers "hotter," "juicier" and "tastier," the fast-food chain has said. It kicked off that program in early 2023.

I rarely eat McDonalds because when I am forced to, I literally can feel my body shutting down. I get sleepy and my body aches.
wtf are they putting in that food?

I’m not convinced they’re still using beef. At least not 100% beef.

What a dumb-frick thing to say.

Anybody who has been cooking can make a burger far and away better than anything produced by a fast-food chain. If you want fast food, there are some okay enough burgers. If I want a good burger, I'm going to make it myself or go to Five Guys.

CEO knows his market and knows they've fricked up being greedy citing inflation. Your market is trashy people and single families who don't have time to cook. You've out-priced them. Unless you're going back down in price while beefing up this burger, you'll continue on the slow death spiral the brand has been on since the early 2000s.

They did this before. It was called the Big Xtra. A 1/3 pound burger that was salty as crap and had it own size of bun.

Also because people are ignorant on fractions, people thought it had less beef than a quarter pounder.

The eventually replaced it with the Big N Tasty which was just a quarter pounder with lettuce and tomato and mayo.

So the CEO is basically admitting to serving small low-quality burgers.

I ordered a Big Mac for the first time in 25 years a few weeks ago. All I could do was laugh at how bad it sucked compared to what it used to be.

I did not eat McD's for probably 20 years other than the occasional breakfast because there were always better options.

Since I moved to bumfrick there are limited options, Wendy's is dog shite these days, Arbys is Arbys, DQ and Sonic are trashy af, I have found myself going to McD's again. With the app you can get 20% off your order so the price is fairly reasonable.

I found they use real beef in their QPC and Big Mac burgers. A double QPC with bacon is pretty legit. And they have the best fries in the industry.

They currently are running a "Cajun Chicken Bacon Sandwich" special which ain't bad either. It isn't really cajun, and probably not really chicken or bacon, but it tastes pretty good if you find yourself at a McD's.

Didn’t they do this in the early 2000s?

Found it

quote:

The Big N' Tasty was introduced in 1997 and was originally tested in the California market, while the Big Xtra was test marketed in the Northeastern United States as the MBX;[11][12][13] during the simultaneous testing phase, either one could be sold depending upon the test market.[14] The Big N' Tasty was phased in nationally in 2000, displacing the Big Xtra in the United States
This turned into the big extra which was a larger patty

Well the regular hamburger they sell today is about the size of a biscuit.

They have absolutely shrunk the patty size down over the years.

Maybe they will go back up to what the patty size was 10 years ago.
