It's spreading everywhere that OU made a offer he couldn't refuse.

I imagine we're going to have portion of the fan base super pissed losing a kid based on NIL to Oklahoma

Use the money and seal the deal on Barrow, and grab the ULM kid.

if we dont respond with a starter at DT then the fans have the right to be pissed. its one thing to lose a NIL battle to a desperate team but its another thing to trot out an even worse line than we did last year. that cant happen

A million dollars is absurd, he's not some generational talent. I am surprised OU has that kind of money to throw around considering they were calling OU oil execs in Texas begging for NIL donations last year. Demarco Murray called my friends boss multiple times saying they are really hurting trying to keep up in the NIL race.

its unfortunate if we can’t get the dude but do we really want to drop Walter Nolan cash on Damonic? going towards 1m for one dude is a bit extreme to me

OU will do anything to keep beating Texas.

A million dollars is completely absurd, but sadly, all it takes is one team to pay.

This. We refuse to do what’s necessary to field championship teams. Kelly promised we’d compete in year 3 and now the DL will prevent us from doing so

No one really wants to win a championship anymore I mean it would be nice for these players but it’s all about the $$$$ now

This dude ain’t Warren Sapp. He’s not worth anywhere near that much

He’s just the tallest midget in the portal right now at that position

One thing to know is it’s not like OU came out of nowhere

The second he entered the portal he was crystal balled to OU and they got the first visit. Apparently, he has ties there, and knows Venables. Plus, I’m sure they’ve been tampering for a while

This isnt on Kelly or even LSU (the williams situation). It becomes about LSU and, to a much lesser extent Kelly (theres no truth to the nonsense on here that he doesnt want to pony up for a winner. one of the dumber narratives on this site) IF we dont add 1-2 quality DT's after this williams fiasco concludes.

I was told not to worry about NIL. Sounds like that was bullshite. If you wanna win you have to pay up.

Brian Kelly is in his 3rd year as the head coach at lsu. The DT position still being this big of an issue is 100% on him. If he hired a competent defensive staff from the beginning we wouldn’t be in this spot. If he went after DT harder in year 1 and 2 we wouldn’t be in this position. Maybe if it was first year or second year you could excuse him, but ultimately this does fall 100% on BK’s shoulders.

Stop with that shite. Does Texas refuse to do what it takes as well?

I like that Oklahoma visited him this morning and dropped the bag and supposedly got it done.

Always wait until the last minute

Even Texas of ALL programs sounds like they have a limit when it comes to this dude, and they are bottomless when it comes to NIL.

This is the truest take in all of this. People have been sounding the alarm about DT for 3 years. Kelly has chosen to ignore it until now, and now he can't address it because the cost doesn't align with his principles. Fine, good on him for that. But if he had addressed this for the last 3 years, he wouldn't have to face this decision. He will have to own this, and he will I am sure. Not like anything can happen to him, or should happen to him. Just a bummer situation is all.
