New Orleans is a football city(trending down currently), but certainly not a sports city. And the answer is because of poor ownership, size, & demographics.

The pelicans are top half of the league in attendance percentage. Why do people act like fans don’t go to pelicans games?
Because attendance was shitty early in the 2007-2008 season

This makes absolutely zero sense
It does, any place where there is a lot to do and nice weather, people dont want to be stuck in a stadium or arena for an overpriced event.
Look who mostly attends sports today, drunk trash.

LA- Sports Town? No. This is the same city that can barely support an NFL team, but muh TV markets .

1. And? Compared to other small markets, Nola is competitive.
Never said otherwise. You are arguing with the wrong person.

Not sure what your deal is. I’m defending the NOLA fandom.

How about NYC, Chicago, Seattle, Boston, San Fran, etc., etc.

Shrinking population.
Population remaining has a large percentage with little to no disposable income.
Gentrifiers aren't interested in sports.
So, you're relying on, primarily, "commuter" fans and getting to the games is a PITA and growing increasingly dangerous to person and property.

Pelicans generally rank around 12th in home attendance based upon %.
Pelicans and Hawks are the only 2 arenas to have less than 17,000 capacity.

The Chargers finish in the top half of NFL attendance too, because fans of opposing teams in town buy the tickets to see the team they want to root for or fans go to take a trip to LA along with seeing thei

The average person in NOLA would much rather support LSU than a pro team

The BCS championship game in 2012 versus Alabama was well over 60% Alabama fans. This game was played in New Orleans.
