I watched this guy every practice and interview for 2 years. Once he got the system down, which took him 8 games, he was dynamite.
Spencer had no help last year up front. He still played amazing. Put him at Washington or Oregon or Georgia and he could've gone the distance.

My guess is he’ll be selling insurance in a few years.

What happened after his first year at Oklahoma then?

Rattler will throw a perfect spiral 40 yard throw right into the hands of a tightly covered receiver. All the while having 2 defenders in his face
He’ll follow that up with a horrible red zone INT in which the receiver was never open and he just heaved it up for grabs even under no pressure
Honestly kind of reminds me of Winston in that they’re both gun slingers

That's not accurate. Again his offensive line was abysmal. He forced some throws his first year at sc..
His td t o int ratio was much better last year with a worse ol..
When he gets an NFL caliber line he will be very good,

This was really a strange draft with QBs.
I get the hype for Williams and Mayes, they were already in the 1st rd prior to last season, and just didn't have to collapse too bad. I get the Daniels hype, as the Heisman winner, and a guy who not only massively improved, he corrected everything he was told to work on. I even see the attraction to Penix, who has a fricking cannon and can go on insane streaks.
I don't see the 1st round love for Nix (who benefitted from a system) or McCarthy, who simply was the starter for the national champs... if that was an 8 win team he's a 3rd or 4th rd guy. And without their elite defense, that's an 8 win team.
In a "normal" draft, I could see the following- Williams, Daniels and Mayes as 1st rd picks. Penix in the 2nd rd, to a team that wants a guy to start immediately.
And Rattler, Nix and McCarthy going 3rd/4th rd, possibly in that order. McCarthy seems to be picked because he's 'a winner', which is more of a team thing than what he actually did. Nix again seems to be getting the "winner" bump from Oregon, and Rattler is getting pushed down because Riley wanted Williams instead (but then, Williams was the #1 pick. So is that really a knock, or just that he happened to be on the wrong team?)
I could see Rattler as a QB on a playoff team, easily.

With Dennis Allen around? His ceiling is the basement.
If somehow, Allen gets fired and they hire a real head coach in the next year or so, then maybe Rattler has a chance.

Good lord this board has drank the kool aid HARD on this pick.
Maybe he sticks as a back up in the nfl if he fixes his attitude. MAYBE
He’s a homeless man’s Jameis without the humor and pro typical height.

We really can’t know right now.
There are just too many unknowns.

They’re talking about ceiling, augie
Posted on 4/28/24 at 9:37 am to bleedsgarnet
It all depends on him and the help he can get from the offensive coaching staff. He could either be a draft steal they talk about for years to come or just another 5th round pick that you can only find when you google 2024 New Orleans Saints draft picks.

No I get it. But we’re saying his ceiling is a top 8 qb. If even one GM felt that way he would’ve been gone long before the 5th round.
