What city expenses are spent on St George?
Parish expenses are used on St George. OTOH, St George subsidizes BR services they don’t get.

WAFB sucking Broome's dick. Spent 3 minutes discussing the dissents.
Also, nothing about the invalid annexation since the new petition drive.

Um...no.
Boundaries were fixed. Which is why the annexation since the petition started will be nullified.

This.
State law lays out that any area under subject to an incorporation petition can’t be incorporated by another entity until the first incorporation attempt is resolved.
SWB did the incorporation after the petition began, meaning it should have been considered void long before this.

WAFB is trying to minimize facts given out in the case.
WBRZ has finally admitted that the area was never part of BR, which they refused to do before this decision. This is a tacit admission they see this as a lost cause and are trying to save face.

I can't wait to read your thoughts when you find out it was them who got sued.

You just don't get it, do you? We are conservative Republicans who would HAPPILY pay higher taxes knowing its going toward things in the local incorporated community.
Remember, BR refused to incorporate so they could skate on certain expenses and use the taxes toward dumb fricking waste projects with poor results.
You're about yo see what those "leaders" are worth when having to actually budget and accomplish.
Guess what else, the best of the best policemen will be patrolling St George now. They arent staying in that dumpster of BR and getting shot by pinks who aren't brought to justice.
The chickens are coming to roost for those buffoons who voted for uneducated Democrats to run that animal kingdom.

Show us where Saint George touched you. As a STG resident I’m glad people like you are pissed. Tell Ms Broome when you go to work Monday, she brought this on herself.

incorporated city = one more municipality, one more school board, one more city court, one more city council, one more mayor, more legacy costs for teachers ... all of that is more government to be funded with more taxes
Are you literally this dumb?
Is it your opinion that if I trade in my car in on another car that it's "one more car I gotta pay gas and insurance on?"
What a dolt. We're getting new council members and a new school board, not "another" of each, Einstein.

I asked the question in the OT thread, but wanted to see if anyone knew here as well.
From reading the opinion, I'm a bit confused at this to an extent. It almost seemed as if there needed to be a separate vote to allocate the 2% sales tax to St. George. If that is the case, Baton Rouge potentially wouldn't owe anything, but I'm sure that will be clarified through the courts, because that is the $250,000,000 question.
Hopefully the sales tax that would have gone to St. George is in escrow pending the opinion, but as was one of the determining factors in this case, Baton Rouge can't balance their books without their tax colony.

Nope. Anything annexed into Baton Rouge after the 2019 vote will be nullified in accordance with state law. St. George get that territory back. Anything annexed before the vote stays in BR.

I'm for St. George. I live in the heart of it. I also have a child starting at BRMHS next year. Woodlawn High is a zoo. Hopefully, a magnet deal is worked out. Seems like I recall there was a deal done with Central.
It's going to be years before St. George has their own school district.
