He had a couple bad seasons at AZ after appearing in the finals his first year. Fast forward a couple years and he was back in Omaha.
This season is unacceptable but people predicting his termination are fricking bonkers
People are forgetting just how much production we lost. It isn't just Skenes and Crews. It's Jobert, Dugas, the first baseman that single handedly kept our season alive in Tre, Coop. You don't replace veterans like that in a lab. The program will be fine. We're watching players like Milam and Larson grow up quick and it'll pay off next year. Even in the 90's, we didn't win it every damn year.

Just for perspective. Dave Van Horn, coming off an Omaha appearance, went 7-23 in the SEC in 2016.
Kevin O'Sullivan had a losing overall record in 2013 after 4 straight Omaha appearances. He's also flirting with a losing record this year after a runner-up finish last year.
Jim Schlossnagle, after 4 straight Omaha appearances, went 10-13 in the Big 12 and missed the NCAAT in 2018.
The last two champions before us were both awful in the seasons that followed.
This right here. It’s been said ad nauseam for the last 15+years, but it’s not the 90s anymore. Expectations should be aligned with other top programs in college baseball, and a season like the one we’re having does not mean the program has fallen from the top tier, nor does it mean the program can’t get back to championship level under the current staff.

Except I noticed a big improvement this week.
They played probably the only SEC team worse than they are. Still couldn’t sweep.

The guy is a an elite coach. He's not trying to throw in the towel. You can tell he's grinding to find every angle he can, whether it's self scouting or scouting the opponents.
When you play for a Natty other teams have so much more of an off-season. Just keep plugging away.

After Shrimpy Orgeron "Cheerled and Hand Clapped" the team to a NC in 2019, he lost Burrow, Brady and Aranda, then proceeded to shite the bed for the next two seasons due to very poor replacement choices.
Fired after 2 years of dysfunction.
Jay Johnson wins the NC with Skenes (Burrow) and Wes Johnson, (Brady) then hires replacements in the Pelini and Peetz level. (Everybody at A&M wanted Yeskie GONE) They now Flying High with a new Pitching coach.
The Program is on the same trajectory as Football 20 and 21.
Of course, Jay Johnson absolutely doesn't seem to be a "Baseball Orgeron" but if 25 yields the same unacceptably disappointing results as 24, who's to say what can happen. Nobody is immune from prosecution if they don't do the job they were hired to do......

Yeah we were discussing this exact topic in our group chat. I think Jay knows he has majority of his own players and can’t rely on Paul’s guys. I don’t think he knows what he got into. Another year of this next year and I think he’s gone
I bet yall have a raging bonko game every Wednesday night
