OR billed by the minute. $276.77 per minute for 51 minutes.
Anesthesia is also charged by the minute. $4.61 per minute of anesthesia.
Recovery room is at least charged by 15 minute intervals. $424 per 15 minutes of use
$1,648.71 for the staples
$42,000 billed to insurance for an outpatient lap appendectomy, not including the surgeon bill which is separate.

It’s criminal what they charge

For shits and giggles you should contact each of those listed and negotiate a cash payment. Report the difference.

Imagine how low insurance premiums could be if they wouldn't have to pay such an exorbitant amount.

I made a mistake and asked Mamason for an itemized bill.
$5.00 a stroke and $10 for eye solution.

I thought Obamacare was going to fix this.

Just imagine how low your insurance would be if 70% of the country wasn't on government Healthcare insurance.

That's about as much as one round of rabies immunoglobulin and 4 rounds of the vaccine Healthcare is a criminal enterprise.

True. Insurance paid about 31% of it.

I'm currently disputing a bill because they only charged for these two with the 15 minute interval and of course teh procedure went 32 minutes. Those supposed extra two minutes are costing almost $5500 extra. Convenient

You can thank everyone trying to sue for malpractice, along with pharmaceutical companies charges 300x what the price of their medicines are actually worth.

Exactly. A lot of these exorbitant costs is because of Medicaid and Medicare having such low reimbursement rates.

Are all of us except the legitimately wealthy just waiting for things to get so out of control that some absurd unpayable medical bill or home expense ruins us?
