A Louisiana politician is a Louisiana politicians no matter what party he or she is.

There are still people out there who don't understand how a Credit/Debit Card works. Don't underestimate the intellectual depravity of this state.

So now the cashiers can steal? And they will have to have a drawer full of cash to make change?
This is totally stupid.
This is totally stupid.

Cash is King bill passed the LA legislature today.
It passed the House, it still has to go through the Senate. But considering the Senate is even more conservative, I don't see how it doesn't pass.
It hasn't officially passed yet so this title isn't accurate.

Events needs to be forced to take cash, too. I understand it’s card only at Saints games and such. Which I assume would include a fee on top of already ridiculous prices for concessions etc.

This is lingering stuff from covid.
It’s payment choice act from 2021.
A business would have to accept cash as a form of payment for transactions under a certain amount. This is just making the events have to follow the same rules.
If they really don’t want to accept cash they can do like a reverse atm.

Most major event venues across the country have gone to this.

Your assumption is incorrect.

This bill is going to end up costing the schools money.
1) This is going to cause service to be even slower, which will result in people getting frustrated and buying less
2) You will need to hire cash management people. People to hand out the cash banks before the stadium opens, collect cash, count cash during and after the event, amored truck to collect deposits, etc.
3) You will need to re-do the POS system, purchasing cash registers, etc, as I'm sure they got rid of all of that previously. Now, they just use tablets and handhelds, but they will need to inttroduce a cash collection aspect of that.
4) Cash walks away. Maybe intentional, maybe not, but cash will come up missing.

I get it's a state university, but the concessions are run by people that aren't run by the state.
Don't we love government injecting themselves into business transactions dictating the business methods of private business folks!!

I like this, because honestly something needs to slow the creep toward only digital payment methods.

I bet the fee is baked into that $12 beer. Won’t argue cards are easier. But one should have a choice. I don’t want a cashless society, although I rarely carry it.

Cashless society gives government too much power unilaterally.

I wish they’d all go broke. I’m sick of hearing support local and they stack on the fees. I don’t care about their cost of doing business, it’s their problem.

Imagine carrying cash. Makes it easy when bums ask for money. "Sorry I don't carry cash"
Posted on 4/23/24 at 9:05 am to GumboPot
I like using cards and shite being cashless because I feel like it roots out some of the lo-fi dregs of our society.

This will slow down Aramark even more!

Just about everyone who is involved in this process (master vendor, sub vendors, university, most attendees) wants it to be cashless.
Meanwhile, let's be honest, the politicians aren't paying for their concession items anyways.
