Exactly…. The “kids” argument is long gone. They are paid semi professional athletes. He’s not good enough, he’s gone, let the youngsters play.

I think Burns could be a decent S with good coaching and a simplified scheme. His mistakes are normally being out of position and eye discipline.
Ryan just isn’t fast enough and lacks physicality for the SEC. I’m sure he practices hard and is a good kid but he’s limited physically.

You're being almost as dramatic as a girl. No one has ever said "players can't get better" and you know it. You're just wrong and mad that literally NO ONE agrees with you lol. And yes spring game/spring is almost always greatly exaggerated. Remember Brandon Harris and Jordan Jefferson were always throwing the ball all over the field according to Miles. Coaches lie, players lie, women lie, and you're just dumb

Did yall not read the practice reports that Kelly was raving about sage Ryan and major burns
Sage Ryan made plays all spring long according to the reports and Kelly and Burns is comfortable in his new “Star” position rol
Yeah, like all coaches haven't hyped up guys because they know there is no downside in doing so and is able to scam people like yourself into believing a cow's ear has been turned into a silk purse.
Oh, and when your unit has gotten a bad reputation, there is nothing like coming up with a new name for a position. Let's all repeat the word "Star" 3 times like Albracadabra and all issues are resolved.

I think players do improve
It’s the bozos on here that don’t believe players can improve
Damone Clark is a great example and I’m sure they are others
No, Damone Clark is a great example of how a bad coach can make a bad player look bad.
Clark had a good season in a backup role in 2019. He was often getting sacks, making impact plays, and generally causing havoc. Expectations for him were high going into 2020.
Then Ed Orgeron decided he was going to bless LSU and the entire football world with access to his vast coaching knowledge and ability by finally discarding Aranda's pussy 3-4 defense and implementing his "attacking" 4-3 defense that Russell Maryland and Warren Sapp exceled in....apparently forgetting that took place 30 years prior! The result was one of, if not the worst defenses in LSU football history (at least until this past season). Suddenly, guys who were pretty good players a year before looked awful and completely lost. Most notably Clark.
Did Clark suddenly forget out to play football in the span of one offseason? Or did the terrible defensive approach/scheme mandated by the HC make him appear to be a bad player?
Clearly it was the latter. How do we know this? Because LSU's defense as a whole became remarkably better in the 2021 Alabama game. Was that simply the result of every guy on defense suddenly fully understanding Ed's "dream defense" all at once? Or was it the fact LSU completely changed their defensive approach starting in that game? The answer is obvious to everyone except those wanting to ignore what their eyes showed them (kind of like the OP in this instance). And there was NO greater example of the impact of finally getting away from Ed's ridiculous defense than Clark. All of a sudden a guy who had struggled for a year and a half became one of the best LBs in the SEC. Clark had 15 TFLs that season. Over HALF of them came in the final 4 games of the season beginning with the Alabama game. He had 5.5 sacks. All but ONE came in those final four games. Clark didn't suddenly improve. He was always a good player. He was just able to show that once more when the road block named Ed Orgeron got out of his way.
A guy like Ryan is different. Unlike Clark did in 2019, he's never shown great ability in 3 years. And that showed up again literally 5 plays into the spring game with a familiar scene of him helplessly running to catch up to a WR 10 yards behind him in the endzone who was planning a duck-duck-goose celebration while he comfortably waited for the ball to fall into his arms.
Ryan is a "tweener". Not big nor physical enough to be a safety. Not quick or instinctive enough to be a corner. It happens.

First year paying attention to offseason coach interviews huh bud?

Clark had physical gifts that you can’t coach .. Speed, size, tenacity and above all he was a thumper. His problem after Aranda was coaching and play recognition. Blake Baker transformed him into an All-American. I don’t see that with Burns or Ryan. I pray that both are serviceable this yr though..

I really hope you’re right Ava everyone else is wrong. I personally think burns should have moved to LB before last year he could be good as a fast smaller LB. Idk shite sage he sure gave the body of a CB and not big enough for safety out he doesn’t play big enough. I wonder if out of hs he should have been playing wr

Practice is not the same as a real game situation. If players were judged on practices alone, they would all be five stars. As the famous Allen Iverson said in his famous rant, "Are we talking about practice?"
I don't dislike either player, but the reality is the film doesn't lie. Ryan came in as a 5-star and he hasn't come close to living up to that lofty ranking. There have been countless times where he has been totally out of position, missed a tackle, took a poor angle, got run over or simply got beat on the play. As for Burns, there have been a few times when he's stepped up and made a big play, but there have been more times when he been out of position, missed a tackle, called for pass interference or let a WR run completely uncovered.
Could their dismal play have something to do with poor coaching? Maybe, but I don't think it's all on coaching. Big time college football has a way of quickly exposing those players that were clearly not as good as their ranking and this may be the case with these two players.
Listen, I hope both come out this season and ball out and show us all they really are as good as advertised coming out of high school. As of now, the game film tells a much different story.

You poor thing. One of these days you’ll grow up and stop believing all the pre season hype.
Sage & Major are past the point of improvement. They are a lost cause no matter what Kelly says.
They also said the D line would be dominat last year and look how that turned out.

Major burns was horrible at safety last yr.
Maybe Baker will use him in a different role but I just don't see it.
They need to bring in a starter from the portal. Safety and linebacker.

Major Burns earned all the hate. Dude gets torched on the reg and talks smack after getting drug 10 yards down the field. He looks like a clown

Have you ever noticed the praise Kelly gives people the entire fall practice and then the starting lineup he rolls out week one that gets replaced in week 2 after getting its arse kicked?
No? I do.
No? I do.

I don’t hate major burns he makes laugh and also might be mildly retarded . Sage Ryan isn’t a CB. Better safety .

So are you sticking by your claim Charles Ross will be just a special teams player, if that, at LSU?? Just wondering if you've changed your expert analysis
