BR judge finds former BRPD cop guilty of charge that doesn’t exist

Then judge Eboni Johnson decides to find him not guilty after lawyers questioned her about it.
She said the witness wasn’t credible even though GPS puts the cop where she said the crime happened. He turned off his camera, wasn’t suppose to be in that area at all according to his supervisors. And lied to two LSU cops that arrived on scene to assist and had them leave.
Not a good look for BRPD or judge Eboni….

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A post-conviction debacle in the 19th Judicial District was settled after a district judge chose to acquit a former officer of sexually inappropriate behavior with a woman he was sworn to protect and serve.
District judge Eboni Johnson Rose threw out malfeasance charges against former Baton Rouge Police officer Donald Steele Jr. Thursday, April 18, after she initially convicted him on the charge in late March.
Prosecutors and defense attorneys asked for that judgment to be put on hold one day after the judge issued the verdict.
At issue, they argued that the judge convicted Steele of “misdemeanor” grade malfeasance even though the charge is considered a felony in state law. Misdemeanor grade malfeasance does not exist.

My God this is terrible on so many counts- poor girl gets assaulted and guy gets 100% off because Judge is clueless. I need to look up the Judge to see how this could have happened. She is no doubt and Ivy league scholar and I am sure she is not an obese benefactor of DEI

Same judge - November '21:
Accused murderer couldn't afford bond supervision, new judge removes restrictions
He eventually plead guilty to manslaughter and Judge Rose sentenced him to 12 years.

A brand new judge, who prided herself on giving suspects second chances in her online campaign videos last year, unleashed an accused murderer without any monitoring requirements in July, the WBRZ Investigative Unit uncovered.
It wasn't a problem for Judge Eboni Johnson Rose until suspect Billy Pettice held a gun to his girlfriend's head and tried to choke her on Nov. 11, 2021. Investigators said he took things a step further on Saturday and shot out the windows of her car as two children were inside.
quote:
Court records show Pettice posted a $175,000 bond after he was charged in the murder of his then-girlfriend Dedawn Bush in 2018. In July, emails obtained by the WBRZ Investigative Unit show Pettice could not afford his bond supervision, so Judge Rose relieved him of his monitor and supervision.
quote:
In Pettice's case, his rap sheet was a good indicator of the trouble he's caused in the past. Multiple arrests dating back more than a decade for murder, armed robbery, burglary and theft.

Cop - Omega Psi Phi fraternity
Judge - Delta Sigma Theta sorority
Google the connection between the two organizations, then ask yourself why the Cop waived a jury and asked for the Judge to decide.

Eboni Rose Johnson is the new Trudy White. Her name is attached to many criminals getting off easy or all together.

Is Franz Borghardt an up and coming Defense attorney in BR these days?
Who are the heavy hitter defense attorneys there now?

So Eboni didn’t want a black officer to be convicted on a felony charge and first tried to make up a misdemeanor law?
