I’m not a big fan of women’s basketball but some of y’all are really insecure and even outright offended by its existence. I’d tell you to get help, but therapy can’t fix the real issue most of you have.

Feel like tennis and golf are the sports for kids especially girls to be in.
The real reason kids should be getting into this sport is it is an activity you can play forever in as you age. There aren’t many hobbies that you can do throughout life to keep people active and be healthy for you. Tennis and golf are good activities for that.

Well first you have to get a top 104 or so ranking or pass through qualifiers before you can collect the 82k for losing. Getting to where you can play at the big tournaments is a struggle unto itself.
Looking at 2021 women's you would need to be ranked 201-300 in the world to make 97k. Factor into that traveling costs coaching and such.

What will the 128th best player in the wnba make an entire year?
The lowest paid WNBA player #151 made just over $10K last year.
I know this because my wife read it to me while at dinner the night before last. She was curious about the WNBA draft.

Sure about that? Highest paid player has a salary of around $250k. And since the league year hasn't started yet, they haven't started receiving that money.

Money?
How many high schools have tennis teams? If you happen to go to one of those schools that don't have a tennis team, how do you start playing? Most common way is to join a country club ($$), pay for training ($$$), travel to play in tournaments ($$$), equipment fees ($$)....
How many high schools have women basketball teams? If your school happens to not have one, there are gyms all over the place that have leagues you can join for minimal costs, and they cover all of the costs for equipment. And a lot of those coaches will often train players that are truly interested because of the coaches love for the game.

If you are a freak female athlete and start playing tennis you won’t pay for a dime of anything after about 9 years old….

They would just be taking a different females spot. There would still be the same amount of professional female tennis players making a good living if there was no wnba

Caitlin Clark will make 76k for an entire year So a first round exit which takes 1 hour will be a better paying gig than an entire season. Why every single athletic woman isn’t shuffled to tennis makes zero sense to me. They actually make real money
It may not invalidate your point, but in the interest of accuracy that $82,000 is prize money, not salary, so player expenses including travel, lodging and paying the coaches/support staff have to be taken out of that.
I’d imagine that, along with Wimbledon, the Us Open is one of the higher payouts as well meaning they are getting that kind of money for finishing last in every tournament.

Solution is simple...
Equal pay, just like the US Women's National Team.
Sorry NBA, it's only fair.

However, for whatever reason, the best female athletes here in America aren’t choosing tennis. Makes no sense

The point of this thread is to highlight how much of a unicorn tennis is for female money
