He should get roasted because he’s a moron- his forgiveness went though PSLF which is a bush-era law and would have occurred irrespective of administration.
I didn’t even know this. What an idiot.

They're high-stepping and clapping their hands for programs that are already in place and the MSM is giving all praise to this current administration without any context.

The good part here is he is a Dad, so he's just going to put that money back into the scam that is our college education complex here in the US. Cost of raising a kid until 18 is 300k, but most of you raise them until 30 now so the math is not in his favor.

As one of the tweeters/twits pointed out, the tax man should count that as income.

I agree that the loan forgiveness is a bandaid to the real problem. College tuition continues to rise and should be regulated.
Loan forgiveness isnt going to help, it will make matters worse.

In his defense, PSLF is actually a condition of the loan. Part of the reasoning is along the lines of “it will encourage people into public service/government jobs that are lower paying.” So, this is actually an appropriate plan to pay off loans made at the time of taking them out in many cases.
Sir we are here to create boogeymen and then yell at them, get out of here with your rationality

Many pay more than they could make in private enterprise.

Well then tough shite. Maybe they should have gone to trade school. No one forced them to go into debt to “follow their dream.

Rationality is paying back what you owe.
This is welfare for rich kids.

Yep, govt workers by and large get equivalent or better pay, and a pension.

Plus protections.
Most are upper middle class, and now on welfare.

and unfortunately, schools recognize this will continue and charge accordingly.
They still get theirs but instead of from the student, it's from taxpayers at large...

An 18 year old can’t buy a $200,000 house, but can get a student loan for $200,000?

This forgiveness helps primarily rich kids.
Congrats on supporting welfare for rich kids...

The amount of a discharged loan typically is, but I believe that there is a moratorium on taxing discharged student loans until 2025.

Which makes the cost of education even higher.
Laws like these are why education costs so much. Govt needs to GTFO.
