Jane Elliott will never forget her sister’s April 4, 1968, phone call telling her the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. had been assassinated.

Elliott, like many people across the US, was shocked. Talking about the news of Dr. King’s death makes her sick to her stomach even today.

From what I have seen and experienced, the problem generally isn’t white men being unwilling to work with minorities.

It is minorities occasionally having truly incompetent members and/or ones with a chip on their shoulder who are utterly unpleasant.

I’ve had black bosses, male and female, as well as a lesbian boss at one point along with white men and women.

Worst boss by far was the black male who was utterly incompetent and knew it, as he was promoted to be titular head of a division because the person intended for the job didn’t officially qualify and was installed as his deputy. He was a fricking nightmare to work for.

Most other bosses I have had have had their ups and downs but he was the single worst one by far.

Is she talking about working with minority women the way MLK worked them? No way. I could not ever behave that way towards any woman.

Who? Don’t care. I’ll be a racist if you want. Don’t care anymore about that either.

If we are going to live in a subjective world with over 8 billion different systems of “truth,” then why do I care if someone thinks I’m racist? Why should I consider it bad to be racist even if we can agree on a definition?

Have any of these fricking people actually been to the south? Not an airplane terminal but a school, a bank, a construction site, a hospital? Maybe white men in Connecticut hate black people but working together and inter racial job sites is the standard where I am from.

No they have not and they really do not have a clue that we figured out how to work with each other a long time ago... The folks up north are the ones with the problem...

I did learn how to do this. My hometown school is majority minority.

Then I became a professional, and guess what? Minorities are extremely rare in professional fields. They have to learn how to work with white men because we actually put the effort in to getting good jobs.

Iowa doesn't stand for "idiots out walking about" for no reason.

She felt in 1968, that an all-white Iowa school did not know what it was like to face discrimination.

Absolutely, liberal white women are the hardest to deal with by far.
