They've technically been out since 2005 with Byetta. They are much improved and not without side effects. With the sheer number of people using them for weight loss/maintenance, I'm sure we'll see more reports. Especially considering the sources they are getting the Rx's from aren't likely monitoring or warning for side effects, nutritional deficiencies etc. due to the want of easy money and not putting in the effort for adequate monitoring. Buyer beware. Patients have an obligation to take care of themselves as well and educate themselves on potential side effects, contraindications and interactions.

Like pretty much every medication there will be some side effects. But like most medications the side effects are better than the result of not taking the medication. We don’t live in perfect world and we have to weigh positives and negatives.

I’ve been on it for a year and I’ve lost 100 pounds. Been a life changer for me. Ask me anything? My side effects subsided a few months into it.

It slows down your digestive system. What do you think long term negative side effects will be?

Ive taken semaglutide for about 5 weeks and lost 15 pounds. I am now on my second week of trizeptide and I am down 4 pounds.

Before starting these, I would go to the gym and eat healthily, but my body just cannot lose weight. These two medicines are finally allowing me to lose some weight that I have tried for years to get off. I am only 27, and started these medicines when I weighed around 250. I am only doing this for my own health as my doctor had to do some major convincing. He pretty much told me. Stay around 250 and get diabetes, high blood pressure, and other dangerous medical conditions or lose 20 pounds and most of those will go away. After losing just 20 pounds, I am now off my BP medicine, and my recent lab work showed I am no longer close to being pre-diabetic.

I am sleeping better at night and have more motivation and energy that I haven't had since college. Use these drugs appropriately.

Just like SSRI’s it was never meant to be a long term solution to obesity, but we all know in the good ole USA that the overwhelming majority of people taking this will abuse the frick out of it and have no intentions of ever getting off their wonder drug.

Just like SSRI’s, this breeds zero accountability for one to change their lifestyle as it’s a band-aid on the root of the problem.

This is the problem:
-extremely poor diet for a long period of time
-sugar addiction because of it
-lack of understanding of what a good diet is
-zero discipline, accountability, and self love to to fix the “eating for comfort” syndrome we have in this country
-zero will to be active and work on physical fitness

A pill will not fix any of this.

I understand the idea for someone that is absolutely morbidly obese and doesn’t want to cut half of their stomach out, this can jumpstart a success story, but they didn’t get to that position in life because of victimization, they got there because of poor decision making over a long period of time.

This pill and the mindset of the person that would take this is breeding WEAK people, which is why we are in this position to begin with. We are a society of weak minded fat-asses that lack accountability.

How will a pill change mindset? Changing mindset comes from deep within.

Hey frick all you guys. Ozempic face is a myth, when really fat people lose a lot of weight they have excess skin stupid. With any weight loss if you don’t get enough protein and exercise you lose muscle the medicine doesn’t cause that or loss of bone density. There are maybe 100 deaths attributed to the meds and that’s inconclusive. You know how many people die of being fatties every year ? Almost 5 million. I was pre diabetic with glucose of 124 and HIGHLY insulin resistant. I’ve lost 70 lbs have 5 to go to my goal and my sugar runs in the 80s and 90s. I feel great, look great and this probably added years to my life. I’m 52. Many people can’t lose weight with diet and exercise alone. So STFU, mind your business and leave us fatties and former fatties the frick alone. One more thing any weight loss is a struggle to keep it off drugs or no. It’s not a magic bullet, you have to run a calorie deficit.

Also I was never a big eater at all. But the insulin resistant caused me to keep weight on. I could lose with diet and exercise but I had to go to nearly 0 carbs which is obviously not good either. Oh yeah frick you condescending fricks again.

One thing the OT has taught me over the decades: Nobody deserves bad things to happen to them quite like people struggling to lose weight. Except maybe drug addicts.

Personally, I think any safe tool that can help people improve their health is likely a net benefit and with this one specifically, I could see it leading to further advances in fighting drug addiction noise in the brain.

How many times does it have to be said, these are not new medications. They have been in use for over 20 years.

The side affects are well known and documented, very rarely are any of them severe.

Jeez, one minute this board is whining because people are fat, the next they bitch because people are finding ways to lose weight.

Who gives a rats arse how they do it?

Sorry, I don’t know any fatties. If I did, I doubt they would tell everybody they are taking the fat person shot.

I topped out at an all-time high weight of 330lbs before I was 40 years old. I always had a weight problem. I graduated from high school at 270 lbs. At 330 lbs my A1C was 10.2. About 10 years ago I started a calorie deficit diet and over the course of 8 years I lost 90 pounds and got my A1C down to 8. Then in May 2023 I asked my doctor about Ozempic but he suggested that Mounjaro would be better for me so i tried it. I started at 240 lbs in May 2023 and am now at 175 lbs with an A1C of 5.5. No more insulin shots and we are waning down the Metformin. My LDL cholesterol was 189 in May 2023 but is now 83.

Mounjaro has worked for me. I will live with any consequences.
