Jeff Landry is a joke. Always has been. Just had more money than anyone else in the race
Thanks to the same trial lawyer comprised PACs that donated to JBE. In August of 2023, those PACs had raised more money for Landry than they did for JBE at that same point in the 2019 election cycle. Wrap your arms around that one.

So, not one of all you MF who responded to this thread served in the military or believe the team should be out there for the National Anthem?
If you did serve in the military, you should know that you fought to protect the right of these girls, or anyone for that matter, to do whatever the frick they want during the national anthem

So, not one of all you MF who responded to this thread served in the military or believe the team should be out there for the National Anthem? I don't think he should have penned this letter this quick, however, I agree with him. Put your hands on your frigging chest for a minute and respect the flag and the people who died for you players, coaches, etc. I see all the fans respecting the flag and the players should too!!

Doesn't matter one bit. Someone's opinion doesn't hold more or less weight because they served in the military.

They didn't leave the court because of the anthem. They left the court because it was part of their pregame warmup routine. The football team is NEVER on the field for the anthem. The other 2 teams that played that night weren't on the court. It was not and is not a protest. Regardless, you can't pull scholarships because someone protested. Like I said,

“Republican politicians from Louisiana are not really republicans. They’re democrats who call themselves republicans. They constantly do stupid things like encourage group think and government overreach”
Nice try! Can’t pick and chose! You own him…literally!

The nfl teams use to be in the locker room working on their game plan during the NA. No one noticed. I don't mind this as it takes away any chance at showboating by players during the NA.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read on here, and that's saying a lot.
Republican douche governor does something idiots, and this guy blames Democrats.
Can't make it up!

We are a shithole in almost every possible metric and Landry is trying to gain political points with this. Get to fricking work.

It's stupid, not legal, and puts a negative spotlight on the flagship university. He literally went on national tv to talk about this. He obviously doesn't care about the local reaction....he's trying to gain national points.

I used ChatGPT to decode the original message:
You:
please translate Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry's April 2, 2024 letter to Mr. Jimmie M. Woods, Sr. regarding LSU Athletes to be present for the playing of the national anthem in to Cajun English in the style of "Cajun Night Before Christmas"
ChatGPT
'Twas April 2nd, in de year twenty-twenty-four,
An' Governor Jeff Landry, he done knock on Jimmie's door.
He had a message 'bout LSU, dat school so dear,
'Bout playin' de anthem, an' bringin' folks near.
"Dear Mr. Woods, Sr., from de bayou so grand,
Let's talk 'bout LSU, dat college so grand.
Dere's a matter at hand, 'bout de anthem, you see,
An' I reckon we need a chat, 'tween you an' me.
We gotta ensure, when de anthem's begun,
LSU athletes, dey stand proud as de sun.
Like de cypress trees tall, in de Louisiana breeze,
Dey gotta show respect, as they please.
It's 'bout honor an' pride, for dis land we call home,
An' LSU's name, gotta shine like a chrome.
So let's spread de word, from de bayou to da city,
'Bout standin' up straight, ain't no time for pity.
I'm countin' on you, like a Cajun chef's roux,
To make sure LSU athletes know what to do.
Let's keep our traditions, alive an' true,
An' show de world what Louisiana can do.
So here's to LSU, may dey always stand tall,
An' may we unite, one an' all.
Thanks for listenin', Jimmie, to what I done say,
Together, we'll make Louisiana shine bright as de day."
With dat, Jeff Landry, he done send his regards,
Hopin' LSU athletes, dey heed dey charge.
For in Louisiana, we take pride in our land,
An' standin' for de anthem, it's part of de plan.

quote:Landry will prove to be much, much worse than Bobby. We're a few months into his term and he's taken shots at LSU (and general civil liberties/the first amendment) and done nothing but help insurance companies unilaterally raise rates.
Bobby Jindal 2.0.
He'll be as bad a governor as we've had in decades. And that's not hyperbole.
