The only thing raising minimum wage will accomplish is it will finally euthanize all small businesses and open the door for more big businesses which is never good.
I have several friends that own small businesses and they all say the same thing, it's not the wage that's the problem, but they simply can't find people who want to work and that's sad.
I had a small construction company that I sold 3 years ago and went to work for a big construction outfit. Got a 30% raise over the most I ever paid myself, less stress, and about 75% of the hours that I used to work.
This government absolutely hates small business with a passion.

If anything, you’re making the argument for why it doesn’t need to exist at all. Nobody is even paying minimum wage anymore, so there’s no real need for it.
so many basic skills labor contracts retail/ day labor/ even management
their compensation can be set to increase automatically when the Federal min wage is raised
If you have any more basic economic, political, history questions that your current significant other cannot fulfill you know how to reach me
BTW since vert few of you are actually Conservative,, my oversimplified explanation as a critique of even a Fed min wage to even begin with
the small biz grey market ,, those that don't pay compensation laws are more likely to survive than other small businesses that do play by the rules
the kind of business that immigrants are employed by..... hint
True capitalism is the only principle that might save us.. religion has lost Relion not Spiritually ,, all hail the True Church

Some of the same people who don't want to tip people, also don't want them making above minimum wage.
They also don't want immigrants in this country who normally work for less money in restaurants and trades.
So if you don't have immigrants from South America, you are going to have to pay people to entice them to work for you.
I don't think you "build the wall" people really understand the economic impact that has on the economy

Then those businesses deserve to disappear. The owners should either acquire more valuable skills, better themselves in some way or they can starve.

Drmicrats want to get rid of all small businesses.

If someone is paying their employees $7.25 an hour the rest of us are having to subsidize their employees with food stamps, welfare, and whatever else.
Right, so get rid of the subsidies, and we'll have a free market where the potential employees and employers will have to figure out what the work is actually worth.

Do you think we don't want to see welfare programs significantly cut back?
There are supposedly 42 million people living in poverty in this country. Feel free to explain how importing 10 million workers helps that.

Inflation caused by the government is the issue.

Small businesses that buy from websites like shien and sell it as their own product for 3x mark up wondering why their profits are lower? Most small businesses don’t add value
Wow you are a fricking retard. Small businesses employ the majority of the US population. What kind of commie fricktard are you pretending to be today?

Unbeknownst to you, immigration is one of the main reasons wages have lagged behind inflation.
It puts downward pressure on wages.

It also lowers the cost of goods and services..in as much as the lowered wages are a component of those costs.

then you agree there should be no minimum wage.

I wonder if all the baws on here steering their kids to the trades know this.

Some sectors of small business will only be able to survive as a true mom and pop shop.

Wonder if he'd have been able to get the new job without the years of experience at his company. Also wonder who his new company subs work out to.

Bad businesses deserve to die anyways so if you can’t compete just die off.
I agree wholeheartedly with this statement. However, government intervention and interference should not be what brings about the demise of a business by forcing business owners to pay a minimum wage for work that does not produce enough value to justify that wage.
Do you seriously believe that flipping burgers and dropping fries in hot grease for sixty seconds is worth $20.00 per hour? Raising the minimum wage to create a "living wage" is about as intelligent as saying that a human with a penis and testicles is a woman.
Flipping burgers and similar work is for kids in high school working part time for a little spending money. If you're a grown-arse adult and that's the best employment you can find, you're a bigger failure than the business owner that you seem to despise so much.
Quit projecting your life failures on others.
