One of the strangest movies ever. Great comedy that completely loses its identity halfway through and becomes a shitty drama

Stripes doesn't seem as funny to younger people because a lot of the lines in it became part of the lexicon and just seem like normal speech now. Like if someone says something threatening to you and you respond with 'ooooooooohhh' or if you say 'we're going to have/do some serious _______,' that's just how people talk now, but those things were never said before Srtipes.
Bill Murray was really good for that. Another one he has is when he said in Ghostbusters 'this chick is toast.' No one had ever said something was 'toast' before, but people have used it to refer to anything after that.
ETA: oh, and MY BIG MAN HERE IS GOING TO DO IT ALL FOR US FOR FOUR HUNDRED THIRTEEN DOLLARS AND 58 CENTS!!!

The original national lampoons vacation gets funnier as I get older. I think every dad can appreciate Clark’s quest to have fun and get pissed off when it all goes to shite.
Clark, could ya spare a little?
Sure Eddie, how much need?
Bout 52k dollars.

Nah. While the first half is funny, the second half is just pure arse. It's sort of the comedy version of Full Metal Jacket.
I won’t go as far as saying “pure arse”
on the second part of either, but the comparison of the two movies is on point.
The first half of each movie is absolutely great.

Recruiter: Are either of you ahh homosexual…
Bill Murray: You mean flaming or…
Recruiter: Well, it’s a standard question we have to ask…
Harold Ramos: No we are not homosexual…but we are willing to learn.

Porky’s was pretty funny in my book. It was a little dirty but dirtiness added humor.

The bar/mud wrestling scene with Rubberman as the soundtrack was great. “You’re a lean mean fighting machine.”
