We also pay about that in the off season. In summer $400+. No leaks.

Jefferson Parish is playing Nola games with the water dept now.

Nope. 12,000 gallons in Houston is $275

Are there any additional fees such as sewer and garbage?
Lafourche Parish recently went to a monthly fee added to water bills instead of collecting an extra sales tax for garbage pickup.
275 is pretty close to my electricity bill.

Just looked at my bill.. there is a stepped rate.
In my municipality inside central Houston:
First 3,000 gal are $4.66. Top rate is over $10.
3 @ $4.66
@ $5.67
@ $6.73
@ $8.06
@ $10.61
These fluctuate with the season and the drought conditions. This one was from my bill last October. the gallon usage column didn't copy over, and I'm too lazy to type it in, but you get the gist...

It’s stupid. I just a break down of cost per $1,000 gallons and for my bill it’s $9.91/gallon for water and $12.15/gallon for sewage.

$47.25 for 3,000 gal

I'm convinced some utility companies just make shite up at times.
After the cold snap back in January people in my general area (North AL) were getting hit with big electricity bills. They were a decent amount higher than the comparable cold snap in December of 2022, but they have reasons for that bump. What we did notice, though, is an odd issue with bill totals.
Now, I know the following could be all coincidence, but I have my doubts. Three households separated by about five miles. Each household has entirely different families/living arrangements. All three had, to the penny and same usage, the exact same bill. If one wants to bring in Facebook evidence, that same bill was also distributed to a few others. Very interesting.

Dig a water well. You'll come out ahead.

It’s possible OP is including sewer? My water bill is high - verified no leaks. Water is 80 with no sprinklers - sewer is about the same cost as the water so about $160. In a winter month that’s high. Houston area.

About $200 right now. It’ll be $500+ this summer if I try to keep my yard alive.
I've been averaging $350. We were in Louisiana almost all of December and my bill was still over $275.
I've checked for leaks. None.

I pay 19 cents/1000 gal which is the electricity cost to run my well pump.

I live just north of Houston but am not on the Houston water system.
My MUD water bill has been $65/mo ever since I moved in 8 years ago.
My friend 4 streets over who is on the Houston water system is regularly over $200 in the fall/winter and $350-400 in the spring/summer.

10K gallons get you a $218 bill.
Damn. I just checked ours out of curiosity and it was $18 this month.

Yes mine is $300 a month. More than electricity the last 4 months. Just dumb. We’re a family of four and use no more water than anyone else. I don’t have a leak either. It’s ridiculous.

family of 4 here we use around 5500-6000 gallons a month. My bill runs around 50 a month in St Tammany parish

I never realized this was an issue in Houston. I knew about the crazy Nola water bills.
$275 is about what we pay for electricity, water, sewer and trash pickup.
