What are the odds that the LA inspection sticker requirement is removed?

It would take $14 million from the budget and will be voted on by Legislature soon.
No way they given that revenue source up!

I’d say the police union won’t want to give up that revenue either

At the very least, they'll keep it in the Baton Rouge Metro area for the emissions crap.

I agree that they’ll never give that revenue source up.
I just recently had my inspection sticker renewed. It gets more difficult every year. Extremely long lines.

Not a chance in hell.

Give it up and implement a personal property tax paid upon annual registration. Punish the idiots overpaying for shot they don’t need.

The small crack in the windshield really aggravates me. Instead of paying just $18 I have to buy a new windshield for 6-700 just to pass

I wish they enforced stickers and vehicle maintenance more. Every day I see people without working brake lights

Then why don’t they crack down on all the vehicles with bogus and expired temp tags? Altimas doing Altima things? People with a headlight out so they drive around with their high beams on?
Plenty of money there alone.

That’s the problem. There are a lot of people who can’t afford to fix the things that keep their cars from passing inspection. And then they get a $300 ticket which they also can’t pay. And then they get a suspended drivers license that they can’t pay. And then they get a driving with a suspended license that…..they can’t pay. It’s a full circle

do they even make money with it? i always assume anything the state does it loses money.

How about we just punish those who post stupid shite?

I mean, it’s $18 for a sticker and take a few minutes. Someone is making money but not sure how it’s divided.

Higher than the other years it was proposed but still somewhat unlikely. Depends on how many people the Sheriff's association can pay to go to the capital to complain how it will "destroy" their businesses or how auto parts will now fly out of the sky and hit innocent children.
The chokehold that group has on the legislators is astounding.

I think the LSP has found an alternative to collecting revenue from inspection stickers through the tax on vapes.

No chance.
Legislature wants to keep the money and sheriffs want another reason to pull people over and give them a ticket.
