Do you have issues lending stuff to people?

One of my biggest pet peeves is lending stuff out, especially to people who I know don't take care of their own stuff.
You either get it back way too late, broken, or don't get it back at all.
Let my neighbor use my lawn mower, their house is the house on the block that has shite everywhere. Of course, one of his kids left a hammer in the grass and he runs over it fricking up the blade. 25 dollars later I had a new blade.
We had one of those smaller bounce houses when our kids were young, wife lent it to friend for a party, we get it back with a big slit down the side, wound up throwing it away.
Now, there's some people I trust lending stuff to, I know they'll get it back to me as soon as they're done with it, bring it back cleaner than you gave it to them, or fixed if they break it.

My brothers are the worst. I have to physically drive to their house to get it back, whatever it is.

I’ll go do the job for the friend or family member that wants to borrow said item.
You ain’t using my stuff…not happening.

Nah. I lend out my formal gowns to friends' daughters pretty often (I'm tiny), and so far they've arrived back timely and undamaged.
I can't really think of anything else I have that someone would even want to borrow.

Just do like the FIL, "It's broke."
His tractor, tiller, generator, buggy, and boat stay "broke."

Have you confronted them with the issues? If you did and they didn't offer to compensate you, they should no longer be friends.

There's very few people I'm willing to lend stuff to.

My policy is if I borrow your stuff and I mess it up, I buy you equivalent or even better stuff.

Had a neighbor once that would come borrow my ladder every couple weeks. I finally told him, “Maybe it’s time you buy yourself a ladder!” He hasn’t spoken to me since f’ing work from home soy boy.

Yep, my thinking with loaning anything is this, if I loan someone money or an item I need to be willing to not get it back so it can't be enough money or an expensive or special enough item to damage the relationship.
Simply put, I loen money or things I am willing to not get back with no hard feeling. Who you willimpact that valuation.

I do and have been burned a couple of times. Once, we loaned our large camping tent out to a neighbor, and he returned it the next week. He moved out of town shortly after.
When we opened it up a few months later, there was a burned hole in it the size of a basketball.
I hate borrowing things myself.

I usually don't mind lending stuff out but people have trouble bringing it back when they are done with using it.
