What are y’all expecting the lineup to look like today?

I’m assuming Florida will have the freshman righty on the bump.
I think Neal gets the start at C to add another lefty bat.
Kling stays in CF after a productive night last night.
Pearson starts in RF due to the righty match up.
I was hoping to see Frey again but I think Jay will force lefties in the lineup.

Gavin Dugas likely gets the nod at second.

Would not surprise me too much if Milam is given a break. Pearson at 2nd and Brown or Larson in RF.

I think he keeps Frey in the lineup and unless he can throw he will be at DH again which puts Travinski at catcher. Maybe they put Neal in right again? I think he lets Milam work through it.

Milam is an excellent fielder but will need time to adjust to SEC pitching

Pitching Ben McDonald tonight gives lsu the greatest opportunity to come out victorious

Maybe, but there's just not enough LHP to do a true platoon with Frey if you actually want to give him a chance to be a signifiant part of this lineup. And right-handed hitters have hit right-handed pitching all of their lives. Because there's just way more of them. The RHH vs. RHP matchup isn't nearly as advantageous for the pitchers as the LHH vs. LHP matchup is for them.
I do agree with you, though. I think Neal catches, Trav DHes, and Pearson starts in right. Cags is left-handed and he's going tomorrow, so they can go back to last night's lineup tomorrow if Jay wants to. However, he's gonna eventually have to let Frey start against right-handed starters if he wants a big enough sample size to see if he can hit his way into the everyday lineup. I'm sure it will be easier--as far as options, not the decision--once Frey's arm is well enough to where he can play the field. If it's not already. Has Jay come out and said he can't throw yet or are we just assuming since he DHed?

You are probably right but Frey has to be an every day bat right now.

I just don’t know how you take Frey out after last night’s production

Hopefully we get to see that Johnny Dishon kid play some today

Let's hope he does soon. It's not fair to him to expect that, but this isn't last year's lineup that could absorb that and let somebody work through it. Eventually, even last year they had to move Kling and Jones out of the everyday lineup. (And I can't remember if Neal had already lost his job before he got hurt, but he went through a really tough stretch against SEC pitching too).

Neal at catcher, Pearson at 2B, and the question is whether Brown or Frey plays RF.

I think you continue to play Frey
Edit: didn’t realize he still can’t throw. Was hoping he could shore up an outfield spot. I guess situational DH is it for now.

Frey as a platoon guy is only really applicable if there is a LH counterpart playing just as well.
Larson would be my current choice but I would also not hesitate to roll Frey out in R v R matchup either

That's what I'm saying. Right-handed hitters aren't as nearly as big of a disadvantage against RHP as left-handed hitters are against LHP. If you want to give Frey a big enough sample size to see if he can hit his way into the everyday lineup, you're eventually gonna have to run him out there against right-handed starting pitching. There just aren't enough LH starters to get him enough consistent at-bats. Although Florida will be running 2 out of 3 out there this weekend.

Ya it’s not ideal, as reverse matchups are still the juiciest, but it isn’t quite as daunting as L/L

Pearson is never coming out the lineup. He will play both RF and LF.
