We had been working through an outcome like this with the Kenner prosecutor, exchanging videos and seeing if there was any evidence of their allegations," Becnel told ESPN on Wednesday. "There was no evidence of injuries, medical bills. There was no evidence of property damage. The complainant alleged that there was video of an assault and there was no video. The prosecutor reviewed the matter, we made our case to him, and he agreed, and the matter was dismissed today."

“No video evidence” does not mean he didn’t do it

He entered pretrial diversion. It's an agreement between the defendant and the prosecutor. He might have to pay a fine, take an anger management course, do community service, or whatever. If he does whatever he agreed to do, the prosecutor dismisses the case.

It's like a mild probation, but the court isn't ordering you to do it. It's basically a settlement with the prosecutor. If pretrial diversion is completed and the case is dismissed, it's just a dismissal as far as the court is concerned.

These things got worked out by lawyers in advance. Both sides took the path of least resistance. The announcement is nothing more than PR for both sides.

I'm no expert but MT taking a pretrial diversion to make the charges go away doesn't scream innocent to me.

He's famous, so diversion. Diversion doesn't mean it didn't happen.

I'd guess it has been over two years since this happened.

That is how they "dismiss" things in Kenner Court. They put you on diversion, collect a couple of hundred bucks and the thing eventually disappears.
