so as far as Lake Charles and Louisiana goes ... what happens if he gets his casinos in Texas? does he shut down Golden Nugget Lake Charles? you can walk through the parking garage at Golden Nugget Lake Charles and 9 out of 10 of the license plates are Texas. obviously if he gets casinos in Houston and Galveston that will kill Lake Charles....
maybe this will spur some economic growth forcing the state to offer incentives to other industries since gambling will crumble in Louisiana once legalized in Dallas and Houston.
(It won’t) and the state will become even worse off

The CM bank owners had enough money to burn a wet mule, W T Burton heirs. Counting money is still their hobby.
Was CM Bank known for littering local businesses with counter checks so customers could pay things with them before debit cards? And one of the bank’s owners famously bought an airplane with a counter check.
Legend has it there so many of those checks left they were used in the construction of the building, so when it is imploded watch out for a confetti of CM Bank counter checks to rain on the streets of Lake Chuck, just kidding about this part, but would be amazing if it was true.

I hope every casino in the state has to close. The lying politicians at the time it was hyped in order to get passed by vote said that all of the money was going to go to education. They had teachers out doing their campaigning for them. Once it passed they took the proceeds and put them in the general fund.

Yes and it's registered as a historical property. You can book the main building and the courtyard as a venue for events.
A lot of businesses have offices in there, too. Waitr was headquartered in there for a while.

Cronyism at its finest. No one does corruption better than Louisiana and it’ll never change

Lake Charles is a dump, and has been dying for a long time. A long, slow, painful death.

Oklahoma will be fighting harder than anybody to keep casinos out of Texas

They were still using asbestos in 1983?
Not for insulation but still using it as fire shields in electrical switchgear.

what? it has the best economic outlook of any city in the state.
please understand that it is a city of less than 100k and a metro of only 200k. before you bring up Lafayette, understand it has almost 2.5 as many people in the metro area.

Serious question. Can people go watch it blow up?

It's not a foregone conclusion that it will be demolished just yet.

That should continue to be the case for a while as long as potato head doesn’t stay in office and try to block LNG projects

I had heard that they were close to getting it transformed into a hotel but I guess that fell through for some reason.
